Jilly's Cupcake Bar & Cafe
Reviews
The cafe food was fresh and very good. We really enjoyed the chicken salad and the soft bread it was served on. The cupcakes were huge and loved by all. We have a GiGi's cupcakes in my hometown and they are good but rather heavy and filling. Jill's cupcakes were fluffy and light. The cookie cupcake was simply delicious. This was a great lunch stop for the kids and adults alike.
They have a huge chicken salad sandwich which was pretty good, kind of bland but the chicken was fresh. The cupcakes are all amazing and the service has been great every time i've been. I hear they have a great brunch!
A mixed review. I went to the bar for the discounted happy hour appetizers and got the nachos which I thought was safe and they weren't very good. The restaurant side was nicer with a good menu selection. They have a good Mayfair dressing for the salad. The muffins in the bread basket were good. I believe they had grinded up carrots in them. The restaurant side was a nice and clean atmosphere/environment for celebrating special occasions. Coupons are available in the Fenton Magazine and possible though other publications and mailings.
they are awful!!!!!! Their food is awful but cupcakes are good. However add to it that they are down right nasty and slow and what you have here is a total loser place. they couldn't keep the Des Peres place open and this is why. Mean service and very smart ass on the phone too. All for a cupcake that cost $6.50 I think NOT people!!!
As much as I wanted to enjoy it, I can't say I'd recommend Jilly's for brunch. At all. First things first: the food is good. So are the mimosas. But they're not good enough to endure the crappy management and service. We had reservations for 11 am, but we stood around waiting for the hostess to figure out what to do with us and everyone else. There were enough people standing in the restaurant, waiting to be seated, to fill up all the empty tables, but the hostess seemed overwhelmed and reluctant to seat anyone (even though everyone else also seemed to have reservations). Finally, she shuffled us around to the cash register and said, "Why don't you just pay first, and then we'll seat you." Okayyyyyyyyy. After we paid ($20 per person), we were pointed to a table and told to leave our receipts out. The place was still full of people standing, but most of the tables were still empty. We waited for a server for about 10 minutes, and we decided to just help ourselves to the buffet. Still no drinks. The buffet line was long and slow. The space is not well managed for the flow of traffic and seating. When we got back to our table, a waitress came. We each ordered a mimosa and she brought them fairly quickly, which was good. This would be the only time service was responsive. We went back for seconds, but the line was LONG and very poorly managed. By the time we we sat back down, we were already less than enamored with Jilly's. But then we saw the worst customer service we've ever seen. A woman was being seated by the hostess. The woman sat down, the hostess put down a cupcake in front of her and across the table from her (it was a table for two). As the woman started to take a sip of her coffee (she had been sitting for maybe 10 seconds), the hostess swooped in, picked the plates right up from the table, and said, "You have to move. This table is reserved." The hostess just walked off and the woman sat there in shock. We were shocked, as well. She said, "Well. I guess that's that." For the record, this table was empty the entire time we were there, even before and after the woman's food was whisked away. Awful. Even though we'd paid for our meal ahead of time, we now needed to pay for our drinks (yes, we had to pay two separate checks because of a failure to manage). In the end, we paid $70 for brunch and two mimosas each for two people (that includes tax and tip). Brunch is supposed to be fun and relaxing, but this was nowhere near it. Hopefully, Jilly's works out the kinks on brunch or just sticks to cupcakes.
