Seriously, when it comes to "hometown atmosphere" and staff that go to the moon and back to make you feel that you belong there, good luck finding a better place than Desert Rose Cafe. Enjoy a cup of Joe there more than once and you'll be asked how you've been since you were there last. More than three times, they'll know you by name. I couldn't recommend it enough!
My wife and I biked up around 2pm a couple weeks ago after a late start down from Hancock. They took great care of us with delicious food, great baked goods, and camelbak refills. The offer was made to only charge me for my food, then put my wife to work washing dishes the rest of the day and drive her that evening to our B&B in Shepherdstown... after a few long days in the saddle she gave it serious thought. I wish I could pick this place up and drop it on the corner down the block from our house -- Williamsport's got quite a gem with Desert Rose.
Nice simple Cafe with good food and friendly staff and a comfortable setting. We were traveling South on Route 11, got hungry and found this place. I would definitely come back. Staff gets a 5 star plus rating.
I stopped at this Cafe during a bike tour. It was the best stop we made the whole trip. My partner is vegetarian and I prefer health food. Rose is super nice and even filled our water bottles with ice water before we got back on the bikes. She packed us food for diner and the prices were very reasonable.
