Sam's on the Waterfront

Went here for a new years dinner at $100 a plate I should have went to Mcdonalds. Terrible service! Waitress would check on us ever 30mins and it took 2.5hrs to get our main course. When it came orders were wrong food was hard as a rock and lobster cold. It was a set menu and it was not packed how hard can it be. Then they still charged my group of 6 over $700 when we returned the food and asked to leave. Terrible
Beware! The food here is very good but the service ranges from non-existent to abysmal. We drove out of our way to get here after a glorious day exploring Annapolis because we had read several great reviews on Google. Imagine our disappointment to find that things had obviously changed terribly for the worse. Drinks took forever to arrive and had to be re-ordered. The bartender was having to service both the inside bar and the tables outside without any waitstaff. We had to ask several times to have some dirty cutlery replaced. We had to remind our waiter repeatedly that he had not brought any bread. Our entrees took forever to arrive. Forget about having your water glass re-filled or having anyone check on you for over 2 hours. There was a woman with her glasses held together by duct tape wandering around trying to help and she in fact instructed our waiter at one point to not charge us for one of our drinks (but he did anyway and we paid without commenting because getting the check took over 15 minutes itself and we just wanted to get out of there.) The table on one side of us had the child's dinner arrive and then waited over an hour for the adult entrees to arrive - and one adult didn't even get to eat because he had to take the child (who was understandably over it with sitting and waiting) out to the car so his entree just sat there uneaten. On the other side of us they had a dispute over being charged for desserts that never arrived. Overall, it was a train wreck - the kitchen staff are doing their job well. They should take the entire front of the house to the woodshed for ruining their good work. We will never, ever, EVER eat at Sam's On The Waterfront again.
Recently moved to Chesapeake Harbour where the restaurant is located and took my family for Sunday brunch before they departed back to Pennsylvania. Sam's had plenty of variety in their choices and offer a choice of three bottomless cocktails for a reasonable charge. Our waitress, Jennifer, was beyond excellent, was more than happy to honor special requests for the kids in our party, and as boys who stick with burgers everywhere they go, they said they were the best as far as quality and size they have had for a long time. Our entrees were well prepared and prices were all within reason for Annapolis. Jennifer's service was very attentive and friendly, made everyone feel very comfortable, and she was on top of the small details. I've returned for dinners inside and spent time at the tiki bar and have always been pleased. They erected a new sign inside the community to direct you back to the parking area, so it's easier to find.
Heard that Chef Wilder was on board and what an amazing lunch we enjoyed! The Butternut Squash Soup with Crab Meat was to nearly die for and the Fish n Chips were the best I've ever tasted! The Cajun Shrimp was perfectly cooked and the sauce was yummy! Nice ambiance and on the water - what more could you ask for? The prices were very reasonable and the wait staff were attentive and extremely friendly. We even met Mrs. Wilder! What a delightful restaurant - we cannot wait to go back!!!
My husband and I were looking for a place to go for dinner by water in the Annapolis area. I had been to Sam's many years ago and was not impressed at all BUT we decided to give it another try. We were pleasantly surprised. We docked our boat and sat at the outside bar. Brandon, the bartender, was pleasant and helpful with recommendations. We ate the Stuffed Crab that was on the Specials Menu and it was extremely good. We also tried the fried green tomatoes and french fries and were pleased with both. We were there on a Sunday evening so there was live music which was a nice added feature. We were so impressed that we have already returned and this time brought friends. Again we sat out outside and were glad to get Jessica as our server. Her southern charm as a great change from so many of the other servers we have dealt with at other restaurants. You know the kind that make you feel they are doing you a favor by waiting on you!! We will definately ask for Jessica when we go again. The new chef is doing a great job and since I work at an area hotel "Sam's on the Waterfront" has become one of my top recommendations to my guests. Thanks Sam's and we will be back!!
