Foster's Super Market Inc
Reviews
Like Ace said, not the best bet for non-food items (IMO, processed foods are mostly non-foods). But for real food, it's great! The kind of store I like to support--small, locally owned, supportive of local farmers. Their produce and meat are better quality and less expensive than any other store in Greenfield, even in winter. In fact, when I occasionally shop in Brattleboro, Keene, or Athol, which only have chain stores, I am shocked by the high prices--"Price Chopper" my eye! Foster's even has a pretty decent foreign foods section with Asian and Latin sauces and condiments. Being an old neighborhood grocery, it's in the middle of an old neighborhood and can be tricky to find in the maze of small streets. It's on the corner of Allen and Conway; take Elm or Chapman, turn on Allen, and go two or three blocks. Foster's is worth searching for--check it out sometime!
Fosters has great vegetables and herbs at great prices. Often the produce is local. They also have a small 'health food' section with good prices on items that you might find in serve yourself bulk bins at places like Whole Foods (grains, cereals, flours). For household items and packaged or processed foods, Foster's isn't your best bet; but for fresh foods - veggies, fish, Murray's chicken - the quality and prices are usually much better than the bigger chain stores such as the Big Y (big why am i here) or Stop and Shop.
Fosters is decent. You can't complain, its been a great business since 1941
