Cheddar's Casual Cafe

Service was ok, food was ok. I would probably eat somewhere else if I had a choice in it, but could eat here if the the people I was with did. Nothing spectacular, nothing to remember. I ordered a burger, which I realized later they never asked how to have it cooked?? It wasn't dry, but the flavor was lacking as well. mac and cheese as bland, but for the extra black pepper they seemed to add to it. Person I was with had the chicken fried steak, which was a big portion, but looked liked battered and deep fried, and the gravy, which was on the side??? was gelatinous, vs gravy. He said the flavor was a bit off too. Service was lack luster, but not horrible.
I ate there today with my mom and my girlfriend. We really needed a place to eat before we ran out of civilization, and Cheddar's served it's purpose. Both my mom and girlfriend ordered salmon, which was perfectly cooked, and their sides were done well. I ordered the Shepard's Pie and was very disappointed. The meat was round, as if they were small meatballs, which it should never be as a shepard's pie. It tasted like hamburger helper and was otherwise bland. the potatoes were okay, but on top were way too many onion flakes, which overpowered a lot of it, but sadly, the onion was the most flavorful part of the dish. Yuck. Our waitress was super friendly and nice and the tables around us also seemed to get great service. I would eat at a Cheddar's again, but I will not be ordering the Shepard's Pie.
Greeting and wait time: 5 (Greeted and sat immediately) Atmosphere: 4 (No music playing overhead but other than that, good. Cleanliness: 3 (Tons of dust on air vents and lights. Looks as if they haven't been cleaned since first opened.) Service: 2 (Waitress was nice but service was not prompt at all! Waited long time for everything and waitress forgot about the salad that was ordered all together.) Appetizer - Chips & Queso: 3 (Chips were very stale...asked for new chips and they were worse than the first batch.) Entree #1 - Chicken & Waffles: 4 (Pleasantly surprised with this dish. Have had the real thing and this was just like it. Absolutely delicious and would highly recommend this dish to anyone!) Entree #2 - Half rack of hickory ribs: 3 (A little dry but overall good flavor.) Entree #3 - Buffalo chicken wrap: 3 (Huge portion, basic flavor and exactly what you would expect out of a buffalo chicken wrap from any restaurant, nothing special.) Price - 3.5 on the value scale: (Three people entrees and appetizer: $40.20 plus tip.) Suggestions to Owners & Management: If you are going to serve a buffalo chicken wrap portion big enough to feed a family make sure to serve more than a drop of ranch to dip it in. Deep fry or warm the chips before serving with queso. This would be greatly appreciated by most I'm sure. Make sure there is enough staff on duty to handle the customers in a reasonable time. Drop the extra hostess and add another server to the floor. Clean the air vents and lights before it falls and gets in someone's food.
I've eaten here a number of times and have to say that in the Elizabethtown-Radcliff area, it is a good place to eat with a touch of class that's been missing in this area. The place looks wonderful. The menu is extensive and has a lot of great items that taste great (I personally recommend the Monte Cristo Sandwich). It is surprisingly well-priced for what you get too. The only issue I've had is the service. It's not always bad, but when it's bad, it's terribly bad. That is the only warning I'd give about this place. Bottom line is I recommend it, but steel yourself for bad service.
I ate there a few nights ago and everything was great. Our server (james) was great. He looked like he has been doing this for a long time but we found out he was fairly new. I recommend anyone eating there to ask for this server.
