Morton's The Steakhouse
Reviews
Special young lady and I dined in Booth 15, evening of June 7th, 2014 at Morton's Steakhouse, Naperville, IL. Our first experience there was wonderful! White linen tablecloths, fine silverware, lighting was just right, very fine presentation of our chosen order by their very gracious and attentive staff. Our server, Stacee was most helpful with everything! The ambience was choice! We felt the medium rare Filet mignon was very succulent, scallops very mouth watering, au gratin potatoes absolutely delicious, asparagus had farm fresh taste, even the shrimp tasted like they came direct from Nantucket Island! We may return at a later time. We definitely recommended Morton's Steakhouse, Naperville.
The service was wonderful. The staff at Morton's made our 12th anniversary special and truly complimented our already fantastic evening with personalized menus and a beautiful complimentary photo. The food was amazing....the best meal we have eaten in a restaurant in a very long time. Thank You Morton's for making our anniversary that much more magical.
Beware of Morton's gift cards! We had a $100 gift card PLUS a printed copy of the receipt from the internet purchase and the restaurant refused to honor it because the gift card had a bar code and they had no bar code reader. They tried to make us feel guilty because these were not normal business hours and they couldn't check the card. Since when is 7:30 Saturday evening a time we should feel guilty about dining at a restaurant? Instead of taking care of it as a customer service, they simply refused to do anything but take our credit card in full payment. No further action or resolution was taken on as a responsibility of the restaurant.
My sister and I live quite far from each other so we decided this would be a good halfway point for something really good to eat and drink. I have been to the Morton's downtown and in Rosemont; both fabulous, so I was really looking forward to our meal. We walked in and sat in the bar area. The waiter and bartender were very cordial. The host gave us the stink eye until almost the end of our night when one of his regulars expressed interest in us; then he was very nice. We asked for a sample of a wine, liked it and they brought two glasses right away. Sis ordered salad and onion rings for dinner; I asked for 3 shrimp at $4.95/pc and a cheeseburger rare, bloody. After that, things started going downhill. I got my shrimp, (I asked before I ordered them if they were 6-10 count and the waiter confirmed they were), they were 26-30 count and were not cooked well because I couldn't easily remove the meat from the tail. I would not doubt that they came from Costco; that's exactly how they tasted. Sis got her salad and was almost done with it when the onion rings came to her with the cheeseburger for me. The cheeseburger was ok but it was very WELL done, as in not a hint of pink; it was warm, not hot. The shoestring potatoes that came with it were slightly less warm than the burger. Really? We each had 2 glasses of decent wine, a cheeseburger, onion rings, a salad and 3 shrimp. The bill was just over $100! Really? We did not have the time to stay and discuss this with anyone but on our way out the host came over to talk to his regular and while we were passing them the host asked how everything was. I have never and will never be unkind in front of another customer inside the restaurant so I said everything was fine and we left. BTW, I left a 25% tip because the service was very good. I dine out 2-3 times per week at nice places and this experience came nowhere close to meeting my expectations. We could have had the same meal at McCormick and Schmick for half the price for the same quality. Morton's needs to get on top of this quickly.
My fiance and I absolutely loved this place! The decor was very pretty, and a lot more fancy than what we country bumpkins are used to, but the staff quickly made us feel welcome. That being said, our waiter (Matt) was so considerate. He came by our table constantly to check on us, explained everything thoroughly to us, and waited on us like he was our personal assistant. My filet mignon with truffle butter was just delightful, it seared perfectly. We went there for the steak (which was delicious, don't get me wrong) but we ended up getting swept away by the macaroni and cheese with bacon and onions. We just got the dish for giggles but we both agreed it was one of the best foods we have ever had. The whole experience was great, and it was totally worth the high check. I would recommend it to anyone, so long as you don't mind paying.
