The Cup
Reviews
Cupcakes were OK. I paid the additional $2 for gift wrapping and a card. This turned out to be a scam. The "gift wrapping" is just a green ribbon around the carton and there was no card. No manager was on site and the young staff had no clue how to resolve. I doubt I will be back as the cupcakes were not good enough to justify dealing with the poor customer service.
outstanding cupcakes. must try
Cupcakes are great, but DO NOT HAVE A BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE!! We came into to the cup to have a birthday party for my daughter. No one greeted us. I had to go and find someone when all the girls showed up to find out what we were supose to do. Cupcakes were brought to us as well as our drinks...no one ever came back to see if we needed anything...or ask if everthing was ok. My daughter was very disapointed with the party! not at all what we expected....very rude staff and as i said no one even bothered to see how our party was going. When we came out to pay no one even bothered to ask how the party was or if everthing was ok. Waste of money!!! Dont have your b-day party here unless you want to be disapointed!!!!
The placed smelled very yummy. The ambiance was comfy and inviting. The cupcakes are good though not great. It was slightly dry, not moist like I'm used to. I think the batch my cupcake came from was a little overcooked because there were some crunchy/crusty parts of the top of the cupcake. My main problem with my visit was the short haired woman that served us. It was my first time so I was looking at all the cupcakes trying to decide which ones I want. I felt hurried by this woman as she stood in front of me staring at me lifelessly. Then I remembered that I had a $20 groupon for cupcakes. I pulled out the groupon from my phone and placed it on the table. The woman didn't seem to know how to work the register. She appeared like she didn't know what she was doing. She didn't tell us how much was our total until my boyfriend asked me how much was the groupon for and I remembered that it was for $20 and while I tried to order some more, the woman had already "scanned" my groupon and she said that I cannot use what was left over of my $20 when my total was about $9.50. I would have appreciated if this woman would have warned us that we haven't used up all the amount y'know like anyone who have worked well in customer service, you try to serve your customers and make sure they have a good experience.
We were fortunate to be introduced to the The Cup in Edwardsville while on a trip to Alton last week and these are by far the best cupcakes we have ever had. We were so excited about cupcakes I researched places when I got home since I am now craving them and got excited when I found a place about 20 miles from our house. Could not have been more disappointed. They were the worst cupcakes. I could have done better myself! We need a franchise out here! Northern Colorado needs good cupcakes!! I can't wait until we go back to Alton for the next visit. Will definitely be here!
