Probably my favorite restaurant ever. There is always something new on the menu, and it is always of the highest quality. Staff is excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxing. My only complaint is that because it is so excellent, it is also popular, so the wait times can be very long. This unfortunately keeps us from coming there as often as we would like. I'm hoping they expand into a larger space in the future.
Favorite place to eat in Ames. I've been in Ames for 5-6 years now and this is almost the only restaurant I will eat at anymore aside from the occasional lazy pizza nights which usually end up a disappointment (I'm a picky vegetarian). However, I've never been disappointed with The Cafe! They really know what they're doing and how to make good food the right way. I'd rather pay a little more for their amazing food than waste my money on the majority of mediocre restaurants in Ames. My husband and I almost always get carry-out, but have eaten in the restaurant many times and have not had a bad experience with service yet. Lastly, the desserts are the best part about The Cafe! Sometimes we go in just to get a perfectly made piece of cake or tiramisu. Hands down some of the best baked goods I've ever had! And worth splurging on.
