Cedar Lane Supper Club

The restaurant is a site to see. However it was only a site to my eyes not to my taste buds. The table are too close together. The seafood is pitiful. It was burned. And we did not eat all of it due to it being burned. The steak had a unusual taste. And the waitress couldn't even tell us the ounces of the steak. They didn't even ask how done we wanted our steaks cooked. Overall a poor experience. The man that brought the food had an attitude when confronted about there not being a lot of food on the plate. There was only one catfish six shrimp and four burnt oysters. I would never go back to Cedar Lane. And the salad bar had some nasty tasting salads created on it.

Amazing! I loved the scenery and the food was great. The salad bar was great. I could go there just for the salads. I got the seafood platter and everything on there was really good. The only thing was that we had to wait an hour to get seated, but it was understandable because they were really busy and had 2 parties that night. I will be going back and telling people about it.

Our Sunday School class of 18 went there last night, 7/31/14, and we pretty much had orders for almost everything from chicken breast, seafood platter, catfish platter, steaks and prime rib and everyone was TOTALLY satisfied. The entire staff was awesome. Service was great and responsive. The food and salad bar are to die for!!! We are all waiting with anticipation for our next event here with the employees of Cedar Lane! Great job folks!

This posting is in response and rebuttal to the comments made by Dr. Stuart Stevens on November 2, 2013. I was the hostess working the night Dr. Stuart and his wife came to Cedar Lane. I was standing there and heard his comments. Complaint 1-Terrible service. The policy at Cedar Lane is all the wait-staff work together. They are not assigned sections, so the waitress that takes your order may not be the same one who brings your food, refills drinks, et cetera. Dr. Stevens did complain about the service and I was concerned about that. I went and told Bonnie, the owner, and she addressed it immediately with the waitresses. Complaint 2-Kitchen staff brought meals. Well, since this was the first time Dr. Stevens and his wife had been to Cedar Lane I have to wonder how he is familiar with who the "kitchen staff" is as opposed to any one else working there. Complaint 3- Horrible seafood. Dr. Stevens only complained that his WIFE'S oysters looked funny and were cooked too hard. I went to their table after they left and there was NOTHING left on their plates. Even the "10 french fries" were gone. I think anyone with reasonable intelligence, much less someone with enough education to place Doctor before their name, would know that if seafood smells funny, looks funny, tastes funny you don't eat it. Complaint 4-He was charged full price. Well, again, if you eat the food, then you have to pay. I guess he is of the opinion that you can go out to eat, eat everything on your plate, complain about the food, and not have to pay. What a freeloader! Yes, you absolutely could have complained more, but it probably wouldn't have chanced the outcome. You eat, you pay. It's like that everywhere you go. Complaint 5-Wife got sick. AGAIN, if it looks funny, smells funny, tastes funny, don't eat it. I'm sorry his wife became ill later, but we had over three hundred people that night and served a lot of seafood and to my knowledge no one else got sick. Complaint 5-No soap in men's restroom. Dr. Stevens never mentioned that there was no soap in the men's restroom. If he had we would have made sure some was put in there. I am a woman. I don't go in the men's restroom. If we don't know there's a problem, we can't fix it, and if you don't mention it, you shouldn't complain later about it. Complaint 7-No hand sanitizer at salad bar. I am not aware of any regulation by any health inspecting agency that hand sanitizer be provided at salad bars. There are two dispensers at the salad bar and they are placed there as a courtesy to our customers. Even the state health inspector, who paid a visit in response to Dr. Stevens' complaints, said there was no regluation to have hand sanitizer at salad bars. But again he didn't mention it at the time so he shouldn't complain about it now. Complaint 8-Salad bar. Yes, the salad bar was decent and fresh. All items on the salad bar are prepared fresh, from scratch, daily. Dr. Stevens' bottom line, "eat somewhere else. Even a fast food place would be better. " Well, Dr. Stevens, we all hope that the next time you and your wife want some seafood that you will haul it on down to Captain D's or get a fish sandwich from McDonald's.

Traveled 45 miles on 2 Nov 2013 to visit Cedar Lane due to comments heard from others. This was the most disappointing restaurant ever. First service is terrible. No waitress showed up after being seated. Had to check at front desk for help. After waitress took order she never returned. In fact kitchen staff delivered meal. Meal was seafood platter. Horrible seafood. Not edible. Shrimp tasted old. Oyster appeared spoiled and dime size. Scallops were so old and tough they were like rubber to chew. Everything was burnt. Only the fries were OK. By the way, platter had 10 fries! When asked about meal at checkout I explained the problem. Staff were concerned about waitress but didn't seem to care about meal. They charged full price for my meal. I should have complained more. About 5 hours later my wife was throwing up and experiencing a severe headache. I too had stomach problems. By the way, no soap in mens room and no hand sanitizer at salad bar. Salad bar was decent and fresh. Looked pretty but not any better than other salad bars. Bottom line, eat somewhere else. Even a fast food box place has to be better. Cedar Lane was a total waste of money.
