Dive Locker

My fiance went through dive locker 2011 after having the worst experience in Bonaire. In fact, had it not been for Todd Yarbrough at Dive Locker he would have quit. We planned to go diving in Thailand, except for the fact that I didn't have my license. So, my fiance brought me back to the Dive Locker, Todd and Patti helped us with our special scheduling needs with private instruction. Todd had this amazing way of taking that away this severe anxiety I had. Patti seemed to know what I was getting at when I asked questions. Even though they were probably the silliest questions I thought one could ask. They are an amazing team and we would recommend them to anyone who needs that extra attention or has sever anxiety. I am so glad we went through them.
To be honest, I have lived in Panama City most of my life but have never had a real interest in the beaches or the water. I had never been comfortable there. I decided to take the Open Water Dive class and PADI certified for a college class I needed to take. I really did not think that I would change my mind about the water. Well I was wrong. I had Todd Yarbrough as my instructor. Detailed but relaxed training. He is very knowledgeable and will work with you if you are having problems with something. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone that is or needs to get certified.
Signed up for the Advanced Open Water class from out of town, over the phone; books received in the mail in 2-3 days, contacted the instructor via email to let him know our intent for travel arrangements/plans, and he got us set up with our class schedule and our mandatory & elective dives. We did our knowledge reviews and submitted most of the paperwork via email. Got there Saturday morning for the boat dive and received top of the line service and attention; one on one during the training/evaluation. Day #2 at Morrison's Springs due to weather on the Gulf; same thing, everyone very attentive, equipment in great shape, everyone prompt/on time, and very in tune to our needs as trainees versus just what was in the curriculumn. Kudos to Chris, Todd, Patti, Dave, and the rest of the crew at the Dive Locker! Very Happy to do business with them and will be happy to visit in the future.
The Dive Locker itself is a pretty good shop. The boat associated with the shop, is a different story. The shop's prices are pretty fair in terms of what Local dive shops charge, and they tend to carry a good selection of gear for divers with budgets on each side of the spectrum. The main boat they use, the narcosis, is the worst dive trip in PCB for spearfishing (in my experience). The captain is a little pompous and implies that he knows more about fishing than you do, and drops divers off on the most public numbers he has - liberty ships, bridge spans, etc. (these might be great for picture takers, but they just don't hold many fish). They also brought four more divers on the boat after we had booked a "private" trip and paid for the entire boat.. The people at the shop are helpful, and very nice. Chris has always been a great guy to work with and knows his stuff. I'm sure the same could be said for most of the others who work there, but Chris is who I've seen more than any when I've gone in.
I had the pleasure of going out for a day aboard the Dive Locker Narcosis Sunday, July 8, 2012 (Panama City Beach, FL). The captain and dive master did a great job with our group, which consisted mostly of Open Water dive students. Both of them were positive, attentive, helpful, and direct. They got the group in and out of the water in a timely and orderly manner. Both demonstrated professional competence and a friendly demeanor. As a result of the actions of these crew members, I am compelled to highly recommend Dive Locker to all my friends. Good job guys! Thank you for a memorable dive experience. I'll see you next time I dive in PCB.
