Laughing Ladies Restaurant

A local artist recommended the place highly to us, so we stopped in for lunch. I ordered the "Chicken Salad" and my husband ordered the Salmon. When inquiring about the chicken salad, the waitress said they sometimes put it on a bun - so I was expecting mayonnaise based Chicken Salad. When it came out, it was a green salad drenched in dressing with a few pieces of grilled chicken on top. Because we didn't get our food till after closing time, I just went with the salad; however, after eating it for a few minutes, the dressing became too much. When I mentioned this to the waitress, her attitude changed. She said "what can I do to help you?", so I said, "since I ate half of the salad, please charge me for half of it". She replied, "I'm not authorized to do that" so I said, "Well, I guess you cant help me…" At that point, she went to the back and got the owner/chef. He came with the receipt and said "this salad was dressed perfectly. Next time, order the dressing on the side because HERE in the UNITED STATES, that is the way salads are dressed." Now I'm 4th generation Mexican American, so I will let you, the reader, decide what he was implying. Since I'm already not allowed to have an opinion with how I like my salad dressed, there was no need to respond. Would NOT recommend to anyone and will NOT be returning.

This is a fine restaurant. Sophisticated, wholesome, imaginative, and diverse dishes are presented with style. The fresh seafood is a special treat. Obviously the chef is gifted. The decor is unpretentious but charming with a delightful host and attentive servers. The wine choices are wide and reasonably priced - indeed all the prices are a pleasant surprise. Finding this option in the Colorado mountains is a true delight.

Went there for lunch on our way to Durango, CO. Food was awesome, service was good. We really enjoyed our experience and will gladly come back.

My mother, who was visiting me, my husband and I went to this restaurant for lunch on 12/26. When we walked in we were told that we had to order in 2 minutes since they were not serving after 2 minutes. We probably should have left then. Our meals were fine. The problem happened when I went to pay with a credit card. Laura came to our table and said "I don't even have to tell you this since it will probably not even show up, but I charged you for someone else's ticket so I need your card to charge you for your ticket. It won't even show up on your card since I voided it right away". Well, it DID show up! I was charged for our lunch as well as another ticket. I found out the next day and called her immediately. She was rude to me on the phone and told me I would have to call my credit card company and take care of it myself. I told her that they wouldn't remove it on my word and that she would have to call. She called me back and seemed very aggravated. She said she was on the phone for 30 minutes and, once again, needed my credit card info. I gave it to her. The credit card company called back and said that both amounts were credited back to me and I would have to call the restaurant back to have my lunch charged to me. Being an honest person and wanting to do the right thing, I called them. Then a gentleman talked to me and started to be very short and rude with me. I stopped him and told him I was just calling back to have my lunch charged to my card since they took both amounts off. That made him happy! I then spoke with Laura once again and she said she would put the charge of the lunch only back on my card. I agreed since I didn't want the tip put on because of all they put me through. She did, however, put the tip on as well. She also told me she was on the phone for an hour and a half with my credit card company and was very upset with me about it. It was the restaurant's fault. The very LEAST they could do was credit the lunch that was another tables'. It took a very long time and a big hassle, but they did credit that lunch. They should have not put the tip on our ticket because I did not give her permission to do that. Needless to say we will never go there again. What happened to pleasing the customer? After all that they should have given me credit for our lunch as well. I called to do the right thing, only to be berated over the phone. They didn't handle it well and they know that. Very unhappy and surprised customer 12/31/13 Update: The restaurant had the nerve to charge my account again today after all this was taken care of. They are dishonest in trying to get double payment out of my credit card. Don't EVER use your credit card at Laughing Ladies!!! They have my number now and seem to enjoy using it. I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau!

Not family friendly! Sassy server was rude to my 5 year old nephew, complained about my one year old crying - she fussed for less than a minute - and insisted we sit outside. The patio overlooks a parking lot. The food is decent and the service is terrible. We will not go back!
