Slocums Grill & Bar

Typical Blue collar peeps hangout place that looks classy & dim on the inside & the prices can be a bit on the pricier side;) We didn't have to wait long for our table & there was no trouble with the waiter at all so I don't know what other Yelpers are talking about. Garlic Sour dough bread (complementary): 4 stars Very soft & yummy, even better with butter spread on top of it. =) Perfect for dipping into the lobster bisque soup. Lobster Bisque w/ Sherry on top: 5 stars A bit on the salty side but very buttery & smooth. Loved the texture of this soup because I can taste the actual lobster pieces in this soup. Perfect after a long day of cold skiing/ boarding. =) The Sherry drizzled on top gave it a sweet kick to it. Seafood Pasta: 3 stars Good amount of seafood in here but the taste was on the bland side. Rib Eye: 3.5 stars Tasted like a steak, nothing special about it but got a good portion of this. =) Service: Our waiter Walter was very nice, attentive & patient =) A Food: B+ Value: C Decor: B+ Tip: HH 4-6 daily. Beer can be pricey ($6 a glass after HH)

To start off,,,,we decided to go Celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary in Mammoth Lake, this weekend Oct-3 through-5. Decided to eat at Slocums,,,service was Slow, we ordered the Shrimp with Butter Garlic as an appetizer, (didn't know butter and garlic could be so watery),, and ordered the Shrimp Fettuccini,,,the noodles were extremely andante informed the waitress,,,and NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT,,my husband didn't want me to say anything eles about it so we just left got back to our Hotel room and we both got SICK,,, thank you for ruining our 30th Wedding Anniversary,,were sick all weekend to even enjoy the scenery. NEVER GO THERE AGAIN,,,

Used to live in southern California and make the trip to Mammoth every other weekend during the winter. Slocums was a must stop, and as much a part of my weekend plans as hitting the slopes was. Everything here is fresh. They have very unique and interesting appetizers, and they KNOW how to cook a steak. Awesome drink selections too. Not sure if they are still doing prime rib, but we used to get there as soon as they opened to make sure we were there in time for the Friday & Saturday prime rib. I compare just about every meal I eat out to this place. An absolute classic!

Was good. Had to eat here twice due to the only decent mexican place being overcrowded. That said, we went back because it was decent the first time. Had Fish N Chips and the 2nd time a Steak. The steak was done exactly as ordered, cut well with no extra fat or anything. Fries were a little more done the 2nd time, but both times were acceptable. Bread is exceptional, if a little short in supply. Did not have to wait either time.

Great place! Not many like it; interesting and great food, friendly and funny staff, fantastic beer selection!
