Not a fancy place but great food at great prices.
Just had the carne asada chimichanga fried extra-crispy. It was delicious. Ever since I first ate here (around age 7 or 9 ? I'm 30 now..) I never stop thinking of the food. It's the absolute best tasting mind-blowing mexican food I have ever had. It literally stops your whole world while you sit there and devour your plate. The best thing about this place is how consistent every meal is. The cook prepares and sends your plate out looking beautiful - and I order take-out. A chicken chimichanga is $5.50 without the beans & rice (there is beans in the chimi though). With tax, and the right amount of shredded lettuce & pico de gallo (lots)...that's a delicious meal for under $6 bucks. The darker red salsa/hot sauce is great. They have the large sliced carrots and jalepenos/onions too, I always forget to pick some up I'm too into thinking how great it's all gonna taste...mmm! Oh, and the lady who works the front counter and into the back is so great at her job, she really cares about getting your food out to you and did I mention how friggin delicious it looks and then tastes. Yum! Recommendations: Carne Asade Fries (the best thing I've ever tasted in the whole world) Carnitas Fries, heard the Chicken (or pollo) fries are bomb too Chicken Chimi (soooo good for just $5.50 + tax, whooo!) Carne Asada Chimi - load up on this red meat monster, yea! Everything else I'm sure, I want to order everything on their menu Horchata, large size, is super good. Very sweet and light with lots of ice, gigantic size cup! Beans in the chimi were so creamy and against the hot melty cheese, I didn't know what to do for a minute...I just kept eating and wished it would never end. But it did, indeed, and was perfectly plump-fully full.
One of the best places to eat in Borrego! My daughters were almost raised on their Breakfast Burrito (for dinner). So big, they split it and even then didn't finish it. I don't have any recommendations because everything I tried was superb! If you are in Borrego you have to try Jilberto's at least once.
Very good quality meats and fresh Ingrediants. Will definitely eat there again
The food is fantastic. We go to Borrego about six times a year. This is the place we look forward to going to.
