Marlin Club ... last of the true local bars. They don;t even have peanuts or slim jims. Best bar in Avalon. Perhaps in California ( or in the US ) No Frills, just good company. Great place to meet real people. Great for regular visitors, not so hot for tourists perhaps.
Worst customer service in Avalon. Visited Catalina with my girlfriend this past year and thought the Marlin Club seemed like a fun local bar to get a drink. We entered and sat at the bar, the bar tender clearly saw us walk in but was too busy chatting with someone on the opposite side (not serving just chatting). 10 mins later, walks to us and doesnt even greet us. Instantly says one word, "IDs," luckily we had them ready in front of us. She took our orders and walked away to go chat with the same person again instead of making our drinks. We had to knock on the wooden bar to get her attention to ask about our drinks, which she then finally made and slid to us with an attitude. Worst bar in Catalina. Do not recommend this to anyone who is not a local.
