Effina's Tuscan Grill
Reviews
We arrived an hour before closing (sorry about that) and the staff/service/food was excellent.
Once again, Effina's provided the best dining experience we had during our annual trip to Alabama/ Georgia. There's no comparable restaurant anywhere near it, or at least not one we know of. The smoked mozzarella appetizer is one of my favorite dishes, and the Alabama spring salad is even better. Pastas are unique and outstanding, although I would like more non-creamy sauces from which to choose. Although service is always extremely friendly, it's the only issue I have with the place. The wait staff seems to be largely students from nearby Jacksonville State University, and the turnover is probably high. At any given time the staff is inexperienced in the niceties of serving in a high class restaurant. A pet peeve is that they often forget details like refilling drinks, communicating special requests to the kitchen, etc. However, a friendly attitude combined with wonderful creative cooking is extremely hard to find. We'll be back.
Awesome! I eat here weekly. It rivals anything you'll eat in Birmingham. Try their daily specials if you have a little money to burn. If not, their eggplant parmesan is fab!
One of the best places to go in the small town of Jacksonville. They have new specials every day which really help keep things fresh.
The only thing I can recommend here is the pizza, salads and cheese bread. The first time we went there I got the spaghetti with meatballs and my fiance got a steak. She said the steak was good but nothing special. The sauce and meatballs with the spaghetti were pathetic. SUPER BLAND. Since that first visit I have only ordered pizza, cheese bread and salads which are all very very good. The pizza is the best I've had so far in the state of Alabama. The prices are expensive for what you get but worth it for the pizza. The staff has always been great when I was there but the layout of the place is very strange and no relaxing at all.
