Tusk Thai Restaurant
Reviews
Went there with a grabone voucher, those people on here saying the food was a let down have obviously never had authentic thai food before. it was an amazing experience. The only reason I havent given 5 stars is because it was quite crowded when we went, and neither myself or my partner like small crowded spaces that much. Next time we go, will probably be earlier in the week when its quieter.
Disappointing. Remember Tusk being our Thai takeaway of choice 10 years ago when we were living in Mt Eden, but would not return now. Pad Thai was disappointimg with little flavour, no lemon, barely noticeable peanuts and oddly covered by a large scrambled egg. Tom Yum soup was too sweet and had little spice despite having spicy in the name. Chicken cashew nut tasted extremely fishy and was pushed aside early on. Certain aspects of the service weren't so great and others rather unpleasant. Gave it an additional star because I actually quite enjoyed the fried banana ball dessert.
Service was pretty good i'd give them that. Came in with a grab one voucher expecting a high quality Delicious 5 course meal. The first 3 meals were pretty tasty and well presented, when it came to the main it was shit. I ordered a pad thai and it was messy with a fried egg trying to cover it like WTF? Iv'e had some good pad thai's over the past 30 years but this was a disgrace. My wife ordered a green curry with beef but it was very watery and was a yellowish colour. Didn't even bother with dessert.
Probably the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. We got one of their Grabone vouchers for four. When I tried to book earlier on the night we they told me off over the phone for booking too late, but booked us in for 8pm. When we arrived it took 10 minutes for our table to be ready for us, another 30 minutes were spent waiting for service, which we didn't receive until we approached them. We managed to order some drinks and spent another 10 minutes waiting for them. Once appetisers arrived (at around 9pm) the process sped up a bit, and we started to enjoy ourselves. However, when our mains arrived (our stomachs were grumbling) we realised we had no cutlery and asked a waiter for some forks. He came back with one fork, and we told him we needed four. He came back with 4 forks and threw them down on the table and stormed off. The ridiculously rude service made the night very unpleasant - not what you want when you go out for dinner with friends. I wouldn't recommend this We eat out together a lot, and were looking forward to making Tusk our local (we live just around the corner and LOVE Thai food), but all of us agreed that we would NEVER go there again. The only redeeming feature was the food which was pretty nice. Not amazing, but pretty decent. Thumbs up to the chefs. Thumbs down to everything else.
Love this place. Got a voucher for this and wait for them to become available everytime. The food is amazing and is the right balance of western taste with eastern taste. It was very cosy inside, and the food was A-MAZING!
