Java Jive Neighbourhood Bistro
Reviews
Nice private cafe, good food treats but the coffee was a catastrophe, so bad that I have to say something in hopes that they try to improve. Good criticisms can go a long way :) I spotted traditional cappuccino in one size! Yes, no choice for s,m,l which means they might actually know what they are doing... The barista was very nice but no formal training. No grind distribution, leaning tower tamp and then came the blond geyser. The milk was tortured right to the burning end, screaming the whole way. I knew it was going to be disappointing but not worth the trouble. I have her some friendly milk texturing tips and she seemed really happy to know. Hit the road, took a sip and well...a lemon would have been more appealing. Oh well, all in the ever search for good coffee.
I came across this cozy place on my search for comfortable coffee shops in Salmon Arm to spend my Sunday studying. I love independent cafes like this with their local roasts and eclectic atmospheres. Java Jive carries local coffee as well as some from a great little roaster in Nelson. I tried their butterscotch pecan muffin with my coffee which was delicious. With soft lounge chairs, wifi, good coffee and food, this turned out to be a wonderful place to relax and study.
unsweetened almond milk and courteous staff.
A good place for a good taste coffee !!!
In the world of consistent mediocrity that is Starbucks, it is nice to find a neighborhood coffee house that does a good job serving good coffee. They dont even go to the other end of the spectrum and alienate customers that dont claim to know everything about coffee. It is not nirvana - as the previous reviewer would suggest - but it is good, locally roasted coffee served by friendly people.
