Terminus Hotel
Reviews
I have known the Terminus hotel , all my working life , today it is what you would call a " gastro " pub , but there is a difference at this new beautifully refurbished Terminus hotel , there is a bit of the old and a lot of the new . , the key is these people are genuine about this business , and these people are the management team , the chefs the barkeeps and everyone involved that have one goal in sight , create a great pub atmosphere on different levels, and this they achieve hands down , with 3 major dining areas , 2 el-fresco dining areas, , 3 craft beer bars , that have an incredibly varied range of fantastic beers and wines , affordable sensible pricing, and then there is the food ,, simply its a smash,. , goddam great food , catering for all diets, mix an match entrees and mains are all outstanding, and appropriate pricing, for steak dishes is great to see . MY RATING IS 10 OUTA 10.
Avoid! - plenty of choice elsewhere. The beer selection in this place is great. That's about all it has going for it really. Tonight we ordered meals and half just didn't show up. After waiting over 1hr we queried the delay and it was claimed they had no record of them ever being ordered. Weird right? Actually, it's not really weird, its a totally absurd claim. How can you process peoples payments, have a POS system which logs what gets ordered electronically and then simply claim 'there was no record of any order' - It was in fact likely a lie. Bad bad bad way to treat digital native customers. Wait, it gets worse. After accepting the order did exist they failed to offer any credible explanation or compensate us in any way. The meals came, 1 1/2 hours after we ordered. The meals were expensive and food sub-standard for the price. Hmmmm going back?... Doubt it very much...
This is one of my favourite pubs in Melbourne, if only because it is on my way home from work and close to two railway stations (so I get off at Clifton Hill, go and have a beer, and then jump back on the train at Rushall). When I first came here there was only a restaurant, a front bar, and some tables out on the street, but almost overnight a craft beer bar opened up which pretty much changed the entire dynamic of this place. In addition to the craft beer bar, they also opened up a pretty decent beer garden out the back (which is a much better place to have a beer than out on the street). Mind you, it is not the cheapest of pubs around, and the bouncers appear around 9:00 pm to start regulating who comes in, but it is still a pub that I love to visit for one of the many (and ever changing) craft beers on tap.
Ordered the lamb after rave reviews from friends. Was utterly dissapointed i have never been to a restaurant or had the ability to be served raw lamb that is so chewy and tough its disgusting. Also the vinegar at the bottom with a can of chickpeas wouldnt have cost much at all. How sad that this place had a good reputation, definitley worth no stars at all. Will never eat here again. Hated it is being honest! Would have been safer with the burger.
Had a very disappointing meal here last night, for the expense I thought I would get a good steak, it was tasteless and I waited for ages to get it (over an hour and it took the waitress over half an hour to take our orders). The salad along side it was so stock, I should have stayed at home and done better myself with a steak from Coles. My wife was also very unhappy with her meal as were others in our group. Would not recommend this place to anyone suffice to say its my first and last time and to cap it all off I have a sick stomach this morning.
