Citrus at Beaumaris
Reviews
Traditional Italian Cuisine using authentic ingredients cooked simply. The pizza's we had were cooked in a real wood fired oven and the pastas were fresh and tasty. Excellent food, lovely ambiance and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back soon! ! !
After reading some of the reviews my hopes weren't high but all I can say is WOW! I went with my wife late on a Saturday night 8.45 with no booking the place was 3/4 full so didn't think we would get in. When we arrived we were warmly greeted seated and had our first round of drinks within 5 minutes and within 10 we were served starters which consisted of (3 large) arancini balls and freshly shucked Oysters...both dishes were a delight and left me wanting more! next up our mains of Risotto - RISOTTO AL FUNGO PORCINO E ANATRA (slow cooked carnaroli rice with porcini mushrooms and braised duck in a traditional red wine jus) and Pizza - PATATA (Buffalo Mozzarella, onion, potato, rosemary, chilli)Wood fired pizza. once again amazed at the flavours and one of the best wood fired pizzas I've had in a long time.(Pizza fans definite must try) last but not least the dessert which we both had Mini Pavlova (Chantelle cream, fresh fruit & berry coulis) this was by far the best Pav I have eaten outside of New Zealand (Thanks mum) From a service perspective - Waiting staff were amazing they knew the menu / wine list with recommendations to compliment the dishes. We were even asked if we enjoyed our meal by the owner Morag Davidson who deserves a mention not often you get to meet the owner when you dine out this was a special touch. So next time your taking out that someone special or going with a group of friends but not sure what to eat Citrus would be my choice with plenty of variation on the menu which will even satisfy the vegetarians among us. Great Service and value for money . Well prepared and we were very well looked after. I would highly recommend this place and we look forward to visiting again.
I was there on Australia Day 2010, to celebrate a birthday. We were the only party present, but we were made to feel special, we were waited on like royalty, and had one of the most enjoyable evenings out at a restaurant that I have ever had. Not once were did we ever get the feeling of being hurried up. I've been here a few times, its the amazing food, the good service that keeps me coming back. I've read some of the more negative reviews below and simply cannot believe them. My experience was 10/10.
We went to citrsu for about our 5th or 6th visit expecting the usual quality food, service and ambience it provides. Starting the experience with swift service and friendly waiters, followed by a average entree of pork belly. The main meals arrived with great presentation, i had the Black Angus Rib Eye, which was fatty, overcooked and tough along with the kipfler potatoes which were rock hard and almost uncuttable even with a steak knife. Another one of the party ordered the fish of the day (swordfish) and came out as a tiny portion that was overcooked and rubbery! Overall we were shocked with the downturn in quality of produce, expecting a fantastic meal as had been previously. The bill was $162 for 3 mains, 1 entree and 2 sides (no alcohol or desserts). Very dissapointed.
