If you are in Northern Tasmania and particularly Launceston The Gorge Restaurant is not to be missed. Having dined at "The Gorge" on Friday 28th February 2014 we were stunned at the quality of service, great value for money and the range of menu and wine options. The Gorge Restuarant is set in the tranquil gardens of the near the First Basin where at night the Peacocks and the Wildlife Restaurant 4 plus star Menu 4 plus star Wine 4 star Value 4 plus star Service 4 plus star If you want a great night out or just a quaint lunch visit the Gorge Restaurant Please tell them Phil recommended the Gorge
Lunch on Jan 2nd, 2014 : Train wreck of a dining experience, consisting of much waiting (assuming due to being understaffed), helping self to menus, being informed that a key part of our order was not available after half of it had already made its way to our table, and a dirty extra plate for a shared component. This, and my drink was whisked away unfinished. We were given our drinks at no charge, which was one of the only positive parts of our experience, next a decent tasting meal. Still, overpriced for the experience accompanying the food.

Great service and fantastic food (particularly the cakes that are made in-house!!!). Thoroughly recommend a stop at the cafe for day-trippers :)
