Great steak and unlimited salad bar was a novelty. Wine list well organised (wines under $40/$50/$60). Not too tacky in terms of decor for a themed restaurant either. Would definitely go back
Service was exceptional. Really made us welcome with our 1 yr old. Food was pretty good. Pricey for quality. But would go back due to our great experience.
Though visit Launceston only once a year, I make it a point to have my meal at Jailhouse Grill. If you are a carnivore, you owe it to yourself to have one of the many varieties of delicious steaks. The Chefs actually know what a 'blue' steak is.
The decor is renovated colonial jailhouse and while sad and full of terrible memories, it adds to the overall memorable experience. The dining room is cozy and warm. Its a good place to take visitors to. Be sure to try the local (Tasmanian) wines and beers.
Highly recommended. NOTE: Be sure to book ahead, tables are hard to come by in peak times (weekends evenings).
