Penrith RSL Club
Reviews
My family and I went to Penrith RSL Club for the first time ever intending to eat at the buffet. We filled out the membership paper work because we wanted to join solely for the buffet discount. "Shane" (if I recall correctly) was a "supervisor" working at the counter, helping an elderly couple that was before us in the line, laughing and smiling. I was thinking...WOW she is so friendly, NOT! When it was our turn, I went up to her and her personality completely changed. It's like she was a completely different person. I could tell she saw me more as an inconvenience than anything!! No eye contact, greeting, smile, or anything. I didn't understand what happened or what I did wrong. When she asked for my ID, I handed her a certified copy of my passport since I'm currently just a visitor in Australia. She gave me an attitude saying, "I need more than just a piece of paper". She didn't even LOOK at the paper yet and her mouth was ALREADY moving. I then had to give her a letter which was addressed to me to prove my residential address, but the only letter I had on me at the time had sensitive information on it. She gave me no choice but to use it for the registration. My mum asked her to black out the information, but Shane kept resisting to do so. She only obliged our request after we INSISTED that she do it. So far, I didn't mind her attitude that much, so I just continued with the sign up process with a smile. She asked for my phone number next. I couldn't really remember my number that well since I just got a new phone with a new prepaid sim (as I had just arrived in Australia) and THAT didn't please her one bit. The whole time she seemed so upset! She was acting as if I insulted her by not remembering my phone number. Utterly rude and unbelievable. Apart from myself, both my mum and husband were treated poorly with poor customer service. We canceled our application for membership at the end since the price of the membership was different than what we were informed. My mum was upset with her attitude as well. Shane barked at her for wearing a hat (which was a regulation). Her request would have been understandable (besides the barking tone of her voice), if not for the fact that multiple Australian club patrons had been walking past her WITH A HAT ON and she hadn't said A THING to them. In response to this whole ordeal, my mum ended up complaining to the manager which I doubt did anything at all. We left and went to the East West Buffet within Blacktown RSL to eat instead. MUCH MUCH BETTER. The customer service there is BEYOND comparison to Penrith. Overall, it seems as if this poor excuse for a "supervisor" just treated us with outright prejudice and unwarranted disdain. She has no problem conversing and having a laugh with old Australian folk (as seen by her interactions before AND after us), but when it came to dealing with a minority like my family it just wasn't her cup of tea. The place is in shambles, especially if THAT kind of person is in charge of supervising others.
Would not recommend anyone going there to eat, food was cold,under-cooked, hardly any variety, sushi was not fresh. Stay clear of this place if your going somewhere to eat. Only good thing about the place was the Anzac memorabilia.
Fantastic value for money buffet here. (Approx. $23). A variety of dishes to choose from - Asian, Italian, Seafood, Roasts and so many more. The food is fresh and tasty. The food stations are kept clean, neat and tidy. Staff are attentive to re-filling the trays. Ample seating available for large groups.
Price is ok $20+, many choices, international cuisine. On the weekend great crab and other seafood and sushi train also. Great atmosphere for families. Buffet style, all you can eat. Free parking and lots of parking. Looks new and stylish.
Excellent range and good value with fresh cooked buffet.
