Michael and Matthew are the new owners and we spent a few hours after dinner getting to know them. Very friendly people anxious to please. We wish them well in their new venture. The rooms were comfortable with good airconditioning on a cold night, new bedding and towels. Free WiFi. Happy hour in the Restaurant which was very inviting. Dinner was excellent after a long day's drive. We would recommend this motel and certainly would return when next passing through.
Even though Michael and Mark have only recently purchased the motel their professionalism was evident. The welcome was warm as was the air-conditioned room on a cold winter's evening. The restaurant and meal was great not to mention the well-stocked bar. These new owners have great plans and we wish them all the best in their new venture and we thoroughly recommend this motel as a stopover if you are travelling between Queensland and Victoria. We will certainly stay again and we thank them for their wonderful hospitality.
This is an excellent place to stay especially when travelling with a dog! (make sure you book early to secure one of the specially designated pet friendly rooms.) The rooms are spacious and very clean and extra little touches like pet treats and special bowls make you feel welcome. If you have a chance sample a pizza (yum) and in summer months the large and beautiful pool is fantastic. The owners are unique and very friendly and make it feel like visiting with friends or family (or that is how I felt!) Highly recommended. Reasonably prices and a welcome refreshing stop over.
We, like so many others, used the Matthew Flinders Motor Inn as a half-way rest place for our trip from Melbourne to Queensland. We showed up, got our key, slept, and then left early in the morning. The shower was weak but the bed and room was clean.
As well as watching bugs life on the way to the motel we experienced it in the motel. As it turns out the real thing isn't half as exciting.
