I just ate here for the first time 2 days ago. Was a party of 4 for dinner. We were greeted by the hostess playing an upright piano just inside the door. Nice! The patio view and internal decor were nice too. And the food was pretty good; way better than were were expecting in rural West Virginia. Two of us ordered entrees and two ordered sandwiches. The waitress asked each of us whether we wanted soup or salad (or at least that's how we understood her). When the bill came, there were two charges we didn't recognize. When we asked the waitress, she *then* explained that the charges were for salads because the sandwiches didn't come w/ salads. I felt the waitress was wrong to not explain when we were ordering that the sandwiches did not come w/ soup or salad but didn't want to make a stink about it. You have been warned.

We stumbled on to this place a few years ago thanks to our navigation unit and now we make a point to eat here every time we are boating in Summersville. My wife is Turkish and is an Excellent cook and thus very picky. She always preaches to me the quality of the ingredients is everything and this place uses the right stuff. We both love this place, the atmosphere and view on the patio makes you feel like you're in Greece. The Gyro I had this year was the best I've ever had, the Pita was INCREDIBLE!! The Owners are so friendly and make you feel like family you don't ever want to leave!

We just discovered this wonderful place when my wife and I came to work in Summersville in 8/11. I have lived in Los Angeles, New York City and even spent some time in Egypt. I have very high expectations when it comes to food and have found this place an unexpected surprise. The atmosphere is authentic, the food is incredible and the service is unmatched. It is a little on the $$ side for WV, but well worth it. The lunch and dinner menus offer a variety, from greek pizza/gyros/sandwiches/soups/salads/luncheon specials to souvlaki/steaks/chops/kebobs/pastas. Their desserts are sinful. It has become one of our favorite places to dine. Cafe Acropolis is a quiet little gem hidden in small-town WV.

The food was OK. The prices were way too high for the quality of food served. Not many great choices in this town unfortunately so we thought we would try this place out. It's kind of hard to find, at the end of a neighborhood street near Peking. Wish we hadn't found it actually as I feel like I was robbed! The salad was just plain cheap iceberg lettuce and some fetta cheese, tomatoes and greek dressing I presume. Was not anything like any greek salad I'd had in the past. Maybe that's how they do Greek in Summersville. Might as well eat at the equally crappy local Appleby's. Again, the food there not on par with better Appleby's but at least the prices are reasonable.

I ate at Cafe Acropolis last night. I was expecting the common courtesy of free refills with my $1.95 12oz glass of soda purchase. When I found out that they do not offer this I felt like I was being price gouged. I drink a lot of soda when I eat out, usually 3-5 glasses. That would have cost me about $10 for plain old Pepsi. I had no problem paying their classy restaurant prices for their food (which was pretty good, but not the best I've had), but when I have to pay for every glass of a non-alcoholic pre-prepared beverage where it is a common courtesy most restaurants to offer them for free, I get quite upset. I called the manager from my cell phone while standing outside the restaurant to ask him why they did not offer refills, and he rudely said that that's just how they do things and he hung up on me. I retaliated by going to the nearest gas station and buying a 2-liter of pepsi. I brought it back to my table and continued ordered my entree. I admit that it was rude for me to do what I did, but the way they handled it was even worse. The owner came out and yelled at me, so did his son. I tried to explain why I felt cheated, but they kept interrupting me. His son called me "cheap" and walked off in a hiss. I think it is cheaper of them to not offer a common courtesy than for me to try to save money by getting my drink elsewhere. I ate my food, tipped the waitress 20% and left. I will not be going back.
