The Baker House

What a STUNNING property! The Baker House holds so many treasured memories in my heart and it all started last December. My boyfriend took me to tour the Maxwell Mansion and visit the Baker House as future venues for our wedding. Little did I know, he was going to propose in the Baker House once the tour was over. It was magical and I was blown away at the beauty of everything!! We knew that this was where we would say “I do” in October of 2014. We locked in October 11, 2014 and was able to secure our ceremony at the Baker House! The Baker House is immaculately decorated and kept in the most pristine condition. From the décor, to the glassware to the unique tables, it offers such a variety of vintage touches. The food at the Baker House is absolutely delicious! Each dish is made with love and consideration and you can tell it’s all made from scratch and from recipes that are unique. Their pretzel bites are to die for!!! So delicious and simple; it was one of our late night snacks at our reception at the Maxwell Mansion. Everyone at the Baker House makes your stay absolutely luxurious and perfect…there is no middle here. It’s all high end service. On the day of our wedding, our guests sat outside, in the front yard. The landscaping of the property was gorgeous and didn’t need any additional help from our florist. There was no need when everything looked like a fairytale to begin with. With the sun shining, no clouds in sight and a beautiful afternoon, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. The Baker House was able to accommodate our larger wedding (175 guests) and they all sat comfortably. The day after our wedding, we went to the Baker House for their famous Sunday brunch. What a feast! Their spread of food was incredible. From their beef stews, to the French toast, to the pastries… the list could go on and on. It was a great way to end the weekend with family and friends! The Baker House is such a fantastic bed and breakfast, venue for weddings, place for dinners and brunches, and you will not be disappointed!!
Amazing food and a fun place. I didn't want to put my hat back after we left. The service was great, and the piano player made the atmosphere really relaxing.
This was an amazing restaurant/Inn. It over looks the Beautiful Lake Geneva. It is also themed in the 1920-1950ish. Everything is very old, vintage, antique. Also there are hats that the guests are welcome to try on/ wear for the evening to get into the character! The Service and Staff are AMAZING! They are amazing at what they do, and always are on top of everything. The food was Fantastic! I have the Filet Mignon with roasted red potatoes and asparagus, an AMAZING Cocktail and wonderful wine! They also had fondue with fruit, veggies, bread, etc. They also have outdoor seating with a fire place and have sunday Champagne brunches, murder mystery parties, and weddings. They also are an Inn and their rooms are themed for the 1920's-1950's era! Amazing Amazing place, I would definitely go back!
Interesting historical building. Bartender in the front was really friendly and helpful, let us sample a few different things. When you walk in, you pick up a hat from the racks on the walls, and you wear it while you eat. Kind of fun and different. And I guess they clean all the hats at the end of the night. They've transitioned into "small plates" now, although they still have a few traditionally-sized entree dishes. We all ordered one thing from the "small plates" section and it was enough to fill you up. I got the mushrooms and brioche, which I definitely recommend. The boys all got pulled pork sliders and agreed that they looked better than they tasted, although they still tasted fine.
Had a evening dinner here. Fun little place. You get to put on old 1920's hats and stuff and you sit at little end tables and side tables. Piano player was great, added an excellent atmosphere. Food was good, enough. Very pricy, kinda expected more from it though. It's a cool little sight to see if you want to hit the historic spots.
