A real blessing to have this chef working in Goldendale
Absolutely wonderful food not expected in Goldendale!!! We are transplants from the Portland area. We've experienced excellent food in Portland, along the Pacific Northwest Coast, in San Franciso and in Seattle. This restaurant is as good as, if not better, than all of those restaurants. What a delight! This restaurant should be on your 'list of musts' when visiting the Columbia River Gorge! If you have special dietary needs, the chef has been wonderful about adjusting ingredients without compromising the taste! I can't say enough good about this one. Try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
At last great food has arrived! When in the gorge area wine country you must stop for a wonderful meal at The Glass Onion in Goldendale. Having been there many times I will say order anything on the menu chef Matt McGowan has to offer and you will not be let down. Fresh produce, meats and fish are the things that are used there and you can taste it in every bite. The 1903 house has a nice feel to it and is highlighted by the photography done by Maren McGowan. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in the gorge area. Bring your friends and amaze them that you found the best kept secret of fine dining in the gorge but don't wait too long as a secret like this dosen't last too long!
