anytime we are even in the vicinity of Vergennes Laundry (meaning visiting family an hour away) we stop in... and it's always worth it. Serious espresso + coffee, delicious baked goods, soups + sandwiches, they invite you to slow down and enjoy the food and conversations that comes with it
Drove down to try out the Laundry café, had mixed experience. Ordered a café latte which was pretty good and nicely served, but the espresso was too bitter. Pastries were good but nothing better than what we get when we go to Montreal. Mostly will not return because of the cold and unpleasant way the customers are treated, which doesn't jive with the small-town atmosphere of the café. Even when we tried to make small talk with the boss, we were met with cold stares.
If you are a serious espresso drinker, you're in luck. They are pulling black cat blend on a La Marzocco Leana. Good at latte art as well.
Quite possibly, the best Croissant I have EVER had. Of course, they were still warm from the oven, and that always helps :-) Crispy flakey outside and moistly divine inside. ALL other bakery items we tried were top notch as well.
