Good steaks. Everything else just ok. I think you eat on pool tables. The tables of very large for the restaurant.
Good food, good atmosphere.
I visit Four Oaks on a monthly basis with my group. Since we usually all get the same item, soup and salad bar and/ or some inexpensive entree, last night was the first time I had ordered off the Prix fixe menu. I got the Porcini mushroom ravioli with butter and Parmesan. The ravioli were very good, although obviously heated up from bulk frozen, but the "butter" sauce contained jarred minced garlic and I am still haunted this morning by the lingering taste! I hate that stuff; garlic is so cheap, why ruin a dish where it is the star player by using the preminced junk? The Parmesan cheese was prepacked shredded, resulting in something that had a salty, slightly sour taste and the consistency of soft plastic. Someone else got the beef and broccoli bowl. They indicated that the beef was tender but the seasoning was bland and boring. The salad bar is not only boring but outdated. No homemade touches here, everything seems to be bought in bulk and shows it. The salad dressings are strange. They are definitely bulk purchases and not of the highest caliber; they are little more than chemicals mixed with old oil and whipped with salt. However that said, the restaurant seems to be popular with the locals. I can only wonder what they would think of food that was actually cooked from scratch and seasoned correctly.
