Awesome dining experience. First visit coming from Waco, TX. Excellent service from the staff! Be prepared as the menu changes based on what is in season and my daughter and I even got to visit their garden before our meal. Local produce and spirits mean keeping $ in TX. Great "off the beaten path" place to go when you tired of the usual processed stuff from the chains.

Our experience was truly horrible. We were told we had a 25 minute wait, which was fine with us. We were taken to our table after 20 minutes. After sitting at the table for an hour and 10 minutes, we left. We had not gotten any food yet. Two of the items that we ordered were not available. We had been told about a half hour before we left that our food was going to be ready in the next few minutes, but we still hadn't gotten it at the time we left and it wasn't ready yet. At the next table, the man had received his food but not his wife. This was Mother's Day. At another table, they were bringing out the food one plate at a time with a good bit of time between plates, so the people couldn't eat together if they wanted hot food. If they had just told us we wouldn't be receiving any food for a minimum of an hour and a half, it wouldn't have been so bad. But they didn't. We don't plan to return to this restaurant.

Used to be a really excellent small town restaurant. Recently they removed some really great menu items and added some not so good ones. They also raised their prices, including legacy menu items, almost double the price and they dropped the portion size. Most of what used to be an excellent wait staff appears to have left and the new staff is less than congenial. The items from the old menu still seem to taste okay although my experience had been inconsistent as I have had them burn items on a number of visits. Alcohol served is owners choice which leaves those who would just like a glass of scotch or a margarita going without. If over priced unpopular menu items are usually what you order with a glass of wine you've probably never heard of served by mediocre wait staff then Kates is probably a good choice.

Grossly inflated prices and sloooow kitchen... Food was delicious but we left hungry and paid twice a normal lunch bill...

always great food when we go. from the reuben to the apple pie....its delicious! i definitely recommend it!
