Johnny's Steaks & Bar-Be-Que
Reviews
I live in Waco and have eaten at Johnny's many times on my way to Austin. I always eat the wood grilled rib eye steak with the fresh cut french fries, it's always delicious. Today, for the first time I tried a sliced BBQ sandwich with fries, the fries were very good, the BBQ sauce was very good, but the BBQ was tough and hard to chew, very grisly, not good !
Just moved into Salado from Harker Heights and wanted to try the local BBQ. I'm big into smoking meat and the brisket here was outstanding. The staff was nice and attentive and the facility was well kept and orderly. Looking forward to coming back here in the future with my wife.
Great brisket, fried okra, and chicken. Thats what I had and I will be coming back. What prompted me to come here? The review where the lady criticized Johnny's for not allowing her to stop in "for a beer or three.". If you want that go to a saloon. Besides who complains about a BBQ place in Texas about no health food? They have grilled chicken, salad, etc....what do you want? Tofu? If they add tofu at Johnnys I'm never coming back...beer or three lady go back to California! Be prepared to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, they make the food fresh so it takes a little longer.
Great food, great company, love the TAMU theme.
If you think you can stop in and just have a beer or three, think again. The owner is apparently against people just drinking at his establishment, as it "doesn't promote the family atmosphere" he wants to keep. Whatever, jerk. Counter girl said she'd get in trouble if we didn't order some food, so we ordered onion rings. There was nothing healthy to choose from on the appetizer menu. Thanks for increasing my tab and clogging my arteries, assholes! The onion rings were pretty good, better than I thought they'd be, but I really hated the idea of eating something so obviously bad for me because some douche bag has no respect for his customers.
