Mesquite Chop House

The food and service is great, unfortunately I cannot rate higher than 3 stars because the prices are way too high. I have eaten in many fine restaurants and this is the worse place I have been in reference to prices. Terrible seleciton of wine. Wine list needs to be updated and also use standard prices not outrageous ones.
My husband suggested eating here after eating here several times with clients from out of town. First, I will say the crafting of the drinks was impeccable. The fresh fruit and quality liquor really impressed me as well as the overall presentation of the drinks. Additionally, the patio is really nice, not too crowded and overlooks a nice green space and a garden. We loved the complimentary bread and butter - it was difficult to not over indulge. All very pleasant. Unfortunately, the service and steak were both horrible. I have received better service and better steak from Applebees for a third of the price. I ordered steak with bacon, mascarpone and lobster. The waiter entered my order into the computer incorrectly and this was not apparent until I pointed out the mistake when the wrong plate was delivered to my table. The waiter acknowledged the error by stating "my bad". He then proceeded to the kitchen with my plate to correct the error. He did not take my husband's plate nor offer to keep his warm in the kitchen. I guess it wasn't obvious that we went to the restaurant TOGETHER so that we could eat TOGETHER, not take turns watching each other eat. Ten minutes later the waiter re-appeared with the corrected order. The steak was bland and the accompanying side item was cold. My server came by once to check on our table and inquired about the meal. I made it very clear that I was dissatisfied. There was attempt to resolve the problem. After paying for our meal, I requested to speak with the manager on duty. He tried to "resolve" the solution by offering a free appetizer for next time. Seriously? We just spent over $200 on a meal and you think you can resolve the issue by offering me an appetizer? My husband and I both agreed we will not be back. Additionally, when clients come from out of town, they will no longer be dining at Mesquite Chop House in Germantown. Honestly, I am not sure why we received such poor service. Perhaps we were a little underdressed compared to some of the other patrons. Maybewe were not considered a priority because the server did not expect a significant tip. Again, having worked in the restaurant industry and fine dining, we both tip very generously. For Mesquite Chop House, this is a loss. When these particular clients come to town, they spend generously, often having a minimum amount they have to spend on dinner and drinks. This money will no longer be spent here. When I talk to my friends and fellow foodies, I gush over the scenery of this location and the drinks on the menu. However, when I go into detail about the bland food and poor service they definitely reconsider spending their money here as well.
Restaurant was loud, Service was slow, food was passable, but certainly not worth the cost. I would give it 2.5 stars.
3.5 stars. Solid, but not spectacular, especially when price is factored in. Nice space and good replacement for Equestria.
