This review is for the location just south of Dickson. I'm reviewing it here because you won't get an accurate review of the Dickson location since the name of the restaurant online is different. The Dickson location is extremely underpar for barbecue and definitely needs a lot of improvement in order to ever get me to return. I respect that they are really trying to run a restaurant but it appears there is no focus on service or taste. On a customer service level there was no. Food, no ribs no chicken just pulled pork. Apparently the signature meal here is a burger with pulled park and bacon which looks great. But tastes average. The pulled pork was homestyle bland and boring. unfortunately the service was ridiculous. No one could serve a glass of tea appropriately, they would bring us tea and then bring us Ice in another cup and it took for ever to even get that. No one knew to bring us silverware and all of our food came out from beginning to end within 45 minutes so no one was able to eat together. They serve the drive-through with priority. We were told that there was ribs and chicken but they ran out of it yet it was still only 6 o'clock in the Saturday evening. So apparently pulled pork is the staple. And by the way the fried pickles are hard and they come from a jar. Overall I would never eat here again. I wish it wasn't the case maybe the other locations are good but Dickson location is the worst barbecue restaurant I've ever been to.
I've been to Papa KayJoe's several times over the last year while visiting Centerville. The food is very good; a homecooked style that should be plenty for anyone. The free peanuts are a nice touch. The sweet tea is pretty sweet, definitely a "deep south" sweet. The barbecue is great, but the ribs (when they have them on special) are better. The pies they have for dessert are made at the restaurant and the Derby pie is a favorite. This is definitely a great find for those passing through or visiting the area for out of town.
Good food and friendly service... We will visit again for sure. They even let us pick our lunch.
First time there and food was really good
Food was good, Service was fast & Friendly, Food proportions are small and not very filling, This is a great place to get a light meal.
