I can't say how much I miss this place since I've moved away. I've found nothing like it so far in my new home of Grand Rapids, Michigan. What I liked best about Bully Blends were the classical music, the tea served with a tea set (with infuser instead of tea bags!), and the distraction-free atmosphere. There's a TV, but it's tucked away where you don't have to see it and the sound is off. I used to hang out at this place for hours at a time reading books, and the staff never minded. There really should be more soothing, distraction-free places like this for readers and students. Bully Blends was one of my two favorite spots in all Rapid City when I lived there (Memorial Park was the other).

The daily homemade soups are consistently the best in town -- hearty, original, and loaded with fresh ingredients. Pete usually makes two each day, one is often vegan. And you can go to their Facebook page each morning to find out what the soups of the day are.

Peter and Aida (owners) are fantastic hosts and their passion for coffee and tea is very apparent in the outstanding quality of service they (are their team) offer their customers! Staff is courteous and genuinely happy (very good reflection on mgmt). Food is excellent - yes, they take special orders. The tea & coffee selection is diverse. they also sell a variety of tea and coffee appliances - tea pots, coffee brewing supplies, gifts etc ... get to Bully Blends. High recommendation.

This place has decent food and coffee and a cool and comfy decor, but I won't be back. Not surprisingly for a downtown, fair trade business striving to accommodate upper middle class needs, the food is good but not noteworthy, the coffee is your average independent coffee house fare, and the prices are steep. I had a cheese sandwich and a cup of soup for $9; after coffee and taxes, I paid $15 for my meal. But hey, I expect higher prices from independent businesses. What I didn't expect, and what was obnoxious to my three companions and me, was how, at three o'clock sharp (their closing time -- who closes at 3 pm, anyway?!), the owner appeared at our table and said simply, bluntly, "I have to lock up." I wasn't done with my coffee, but nonetheless she tossed us and every other patron (about 8 or 9 of us, all told) out into the cold without apology. Bad business, bad attitude, and neither coffee nor ambiance was enough to make up for it.

The waitress was really nice and helpful, she asked specifically what ground I need (french press) and when it was ground too fine she immediately went about grinding up a new bag. However the owner then approached her and asked her if I had TOLD HER which ground I needed, about ten feet from me in a clear distinct voice. Not only was I offended but I felt bad for the girl because she told her I HAD told her and that it must have been a mishap with the machine. The owner then muttered something and went about her business doing apparently nothing. In the couple of times I've been here I have not seen a repeat employee which makes me question the high turnover rate. After witnessing the owner's rude manner I no longer wonder why! I've since taken my business elsewhere because I've never felt so rudely treated elsewhere in the city.
