T.J. Rockwells American Grill & Tavern
Reviews
My late uncle used to rave about how much he loved T.J's so I decided to try it one Sunday for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. It's tucked away in an area that I never would have naturally traveled to, but I'll certainly go back. The food was good, decently priced and the service was great. What's not to love about certain drinks getting you a free mason jar glass to take home?
My wife and I live nearby, where there aren't a lot of restaurant choices. I'd love to be excited about T.J.'s but I'm just not. The beer menu is great - five stars for that. But our food is always a 50/50 gamble. We've had good, and we've had terrible. The location in Elizabethtown is the oldest one, and I never hear bad things about them. Word is that the chefs at the Mechanicsburg location are not as good. Now, I've not been there for at least a year, so maybe things have improved but based on 6-8 visits to Mechanicsburg's T.J.'s prior to that, I can't give it more than three stars. Believe me, I want to. Where we live, it'd be the default restaurant/bar for a quick stop. I want to love it... but experience tells me not to.
Came in late for dinner on a Monday night about 40 minutes before the kitchen closed and the service was great. The crispy chicken salad was pretty good and cinnamon butter for the rolls was tasty. Great beer selection and fair prices. Would definitely go back.
It's hit or miss for me. not the best food and I don't like the menu at all
2012~~Eat here a few times a year. Nice atmosphere...the deck is great. I always get the Fish n Chips...wonderful altho you don't get many chips...which are delicious. The fish is huge and yummy. Also like the mini sundaes which are a buck. Just the right amount of ice cream to satisfy your sugar attack after a good meal....lol. This place is super busy! And can be very noisy at times. Worth the trip...the food is always consistent. Enjoy!
