Redfish

Wow. Best meal on the southern Oregon coast. I now have a reason to visit Port Orford besides the fishing on the Elk and Sixes rivers. Shawn knows how to prepare a meal and uses nothing but the freshest ingredients. Our meals were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The presentation was superb. Amber was great and made us feel right at home. You can eat at a bunch of places in Bandon, but drive a little farther south to Port Orford. You will not be disappointed. Don't miss the art gallery either...

Superb in every dimension. food, location, views, setting, ambience, prices for all the above

Excellent restaurant with a view. Lots of cafés and dinners along the coast making this high end for the area. Had sea scallops and rock fish. Food was great and view matched.

Recently moved to Port Orford, have eaten at Redfish twice and both times I was very disappointed. Last meal was crab cakes for appetizer and pork chops for dinner. Epic fail on both counts. Crab cakes at $14 per plate and the crab was from a can! Really?!? On the Oregon coast? The best they can do is crab from a can? Even worse to come. Pork chops at $18 per plate and cooked to the consistency of shoe leather. My knife literally BOUNCED off of the meat. Previous lunch of a "portabella" mushroom burrito consisted of a flour tortilla filled with rice. Just rice! Oh, and maybe one or two pieces of what looked like the mushrooms from the local supermarket. Save your money and skip Redfish.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 7th anniversary on the Oregon Coast. After reviewing the menu and wine list, we decided on the Redfish. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a contemporary, fun decor with a gorgeous view of the ocean. We inquired on a pinot gris selection and Charlie our server checked with the outstanding wine stewart, Rob. A Four Graces Pinot gris was suggested and it turned out to be a delightful, intriguing wine that paired beautifully with our dishes. We started with the Grilled Shrimp Lollipops, which had a great dipping orange/chili dipping sauce, which has a great flavorful kick. My wife had the Citrus Scaled Cod and I had the Jambalaya Risotto with Fighting Prawns, which we found to be delicious and fresh. We were informed that Redfish has their own license, so they can buy straight off the boat. it certainly seemed like our fish was swimming that afternoon as it was so fresh. After dinner, Rob invited us to check out his wine cellar, which to be honest is quite amazing. I would never have thought a sleepy little hamlet like Port Orford would house a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recipient. Rob's wine cellar was quite amazing in its depth of offerings and reasonable pricing through a wide price point. He had some rare and select wines in his library, as well as a highly developed split program. We look forward to our next trip to Redfish! It was a great anniversary dinner and memory. The service was attentive and professional without being over bearing, the wine list was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Kudos to Charlie, Rob and the Kitchen staff!
