Old Homestead Restaurant
Reviews
Iconic restaurant with memorable steak and amazing staff caring for patrons in a charming home atmosphere! Went often in the 70's while working the region in sales for Deluxe Check Printers....thanks Marty the bartender and Flo for such special memories!
Amazing food. Huge filet mignon, amazing shrimp scampi, and fantastic seared tuna. I wish this place was closer than 3 hours away.
This is what anyone who enjoys good restaurants loves to find: unadvertised, unheralded, and unspoiled. I asked a Monticello resident where to eat, and was told "for a simply unforgettable meal, The Old Homestead." This is country dining, with all of the relaxation and culinary expectations that term encompasses. The Lobster Bisque was the creamy, sherried perfection one seldom encounters; the Rib-Eye Steak done to perfection, the spinach with a hint of something delicious that, only in retrospect, revealed itself as nutmeg. If you're anywhere near the area, this restaurant merits your business. Be prepared to splurge: in a case such as this, price may be what you pay, but true value is what you will receive. Desserts are every bit as exceptional as everything else. You will not be disappointed.
Whoa! Talk about expensive! Sure, the place is charming and it looks like the kind of place you would love to come back to again and again to become "a regular." Not on a working wage. We went here on our anniversary. The food is average. The service is very good, but the prices are WAY too high for most people in this area. You will get better value at one of the Italian places in Monticello or Liberty. Sorry, we won't be back. (Oh, and pulling out of the parking lot is treacherous with that blind curve! Be careful.)
