Second time in town with my daughter as she is interested in the college. I was able to sit work on my computer and have a nice coffee and breakfast snack. Received my coffe within 5min and food within 10min. Now they make most things from scratch and not out of prepackaged cartons so these types of drinks take longer. I then ordered lunch to take to my daughter during her lunch break. Took 12 min. Not long at all. Now they had there fun dealing with challenging Saturday morning after college students but they should want the students to respect the furniture and other guests. Bottom line nice place with good unique food choices. Going back today.
I have eaten there a couple times. It was dead every time (which should tell you something there), and I have had to wait FOREVER every single time. 30+ minutes for a sandwich. One time in particular, I said to the clerk, who happened to be employee of the month for "embodying the 22 spirit", "Can I have a peanut butter banana smoothie?" Her snide response, "I guess so". She went back to the kitchen for 15 minutes, then came back out and finally made my smoothie. No one else was there. It was ridiculous. It's a shame because a place like that in a college town has so much potential. A friend of mine is a former employee who was told by the owner to not give customers fresh, hot coffee, but rather just to reheat it in the microwave. After disregarding her and making fresh coffee anyways, she didn't schedule him to work again. Didn't even do him the dignity of telling him he was let go or fired.
My husband has Celiac disease and has to eat Gluten Free. He was thrilled to be able to order GF options without fuss. It isn't fancy and you have to wait on yourself but the food was good and for Celiac's just being able to easily order GF was huge. It is a Cafe...not fine dining so for other reviewers...don't go into a college town cafe and expect it to be the Colgate Inn. We were very happy and would go ogain.
The paninis are pretty good. Wide variety of options. None of their food stands out for being amazing. If you want an amazing milkshake or smoothie, go to Maxwell's, which is right down the street.
The place is slower than slow. Don't expect to order and walk out anytime soon. For the prices, the food is awful! Waited 40 minutes for a pre-made quiche to be microwaved. Ordered ahead for soup one day, it cost $5 and when I got it home, it was the wrong one. Ordered Italian wedding and got Chicken and Dumpling. Decided to eat it anyways. The vegetables were out of a can and the dumplings were like paste. Also, the online menu has the worst miss-spellings. I can't decide if they are trying to be cute or if a child wrote it.
