Once was a great BBQ place. I have been to Rubbin Butts several times since they opened and it was always excellent. I recently went back and noticed the ribs were awful this time. The ribs were over boiled leaving a funny outside texture and dry meat inside. They did not pull off the bone. My wife had the chicken and it wasn't bad but not as good as the last time we were there. I knew the owner started 2 restaurants and quickly sold one. I inquired if he still owned the Cobleskill restaurant and was told it was sold about a year ago. Ribs were the worst I've ever had in a restaurant. Pulled pork was pretty good. Chicken was average. Sides were average. Most of the reviews are from more than a year and are for a completely different restaurant.
It was not horrible, but I felt like everything I was eating was candy coated. All of the sauces had to be like 80% sugar or better, it's no wonder everyone talks about how good it is with that much sugar being used. Portions are small for a BBQ place, and the real food selection is lacking. Did not have any form of hot sauce available except for the sugary stuff. Definitely is not your typical barbecue shop.
We stop here every chance we get. Have even made trips up from Binghamton area just for lunch. Best BBQ Brisket and hot BBQ sauce outside of Texas
Delicious food. An excellent place to stop by. I went with the pulled pork texas with hickory red bbq sauce. Amazing.
Good stuff, ate outside. Was a great experience...my son loved everything too!
