Nice home town dinner as others have commented. Don't be fooled by how it looks on the outside. Great food at great prices! My wife and I could have split either of our meals and had enough to eat! She got the chicken fried steak and I got the three chicken tenders. Each comes with soup or salad, choice of potatoes, optional vegetable at no charge and a simple petite dessert for $11.99. I don't see how anyone could call that expensive! All the waitresses were friendly and efficient. We went back the following morning for breakfast and that was good too.
We had driven all the way from Reno on that lonely highway and were glad to find this place. Friendly, inviting and like a time warp to the fifties with all the good food that's bad for you and none of that vegan crap hippy food. I had a burger big enough to land planes on and was good for another 300 miles.
Cute, All-American diner. Advertised as "where the locals eat" and this is definitely true as the waitresses knew the majority of the customers by name. Service was excellent, as was the food. A little steep for the prices, but you definitely get high quality food. We'll be returning here on our next trip to Ely.
Well, I had to wait almost 10 minutes for my order or even a glass of water. I remember the days of waiting tables, and 2 waitresses appearantly couldn't handle 6 tables (including myself) in a timely fashion. That coupled with the fact that my food was being taken up when I was in the restroom - at least I was quick enough to see someone grabbing it, who appareantly works in the kitchen, so why was he clearing tables? I expected better for a centrally located older restaurant in a town which is the junction of US 6, US 50, and US 93, the last big town for 100+ miles. At least the burger was edible.
My wife and I split a Chicken Fried Steak. It was plenty for two, came with salad potatoes and small dessert. Bread did not come with it but when I asked she brought two fresh pieces of garlic bread, no charge. Food was hot (except ice cream) and very good. Prices seemed a little high but Ely is in the middle of nowhere so it wasn't bad considering. Service was very good and waitress was quick and friendly.
