Sierra Java

No matter how long it has been since I come in, they treat me like a Queen every single time, everyone is always very friendly. Thanks everyone.
Loved the frap. Best in town
we were looking for an alternative to Starbucks, this seems like a nice little locally owned coffee place
While visiting friends in June 2009, one recommended Sierra Java. I liked this place and was glad to see something like this in this small town. It was in a stripmall close to I-80, easy to get back on my roadtrip the morning I left, but also a bit out-of-the-way. There was a eye glass place and some other quite businesses nearby, so it wasn't crowded at all both times I went. It was perfect for having a conversation and not feeling like I had to rush out of there. I like blended drinks--the kind that has finely crushed ice, so the two times I came in (the 2nd time at my request to my friend before I left b/c I was CRAVING another) was their June special. It was some kinda of berry, perhaps blackberry with mocha. Not only do they have free WiFi, they also have a few flat screen computers! This was perfect for myself, as I was on a 2,000 mile roadtrip and wanted to check mail. I enjoy coffee shops, but I always envision a place with comfy chairs...and most of those I go to have hard chairs. Sierra Java rates high for having both--3 or 4 couches--sectioned for conversations. The one recommendation I have is to make this place a bit more homey...it felt a bit sterile and I wanted warmth. There was this great rock fireplace and a nice back section area but it wasn't highlighted for all it's worth. Although Elko, NV is not a place you randomly drive through, if you happen to be in town, pick me up a mocha berry frapp!
Very, very slow. Went to Starbucks instead for a better coffee. The coffee at sierra java was very bitter! Not to mention the awful location. Really should invest in better advertising because my friend told where to go and took forever to find among all the other small shops.
