Via Ponte Ristorante Siciliano
Reviews
I have been to Via Ponte five different times. The first time about 2 years ago my wife and I went for our anniversary and we really liked it. The place has a really nice atmosphere and location right off the river and toe path. Just down the street there's great store to buy wine which goes great with a BYOB restaurant like Via Ponte. I had gone there with my son and we just shared a pizza once and it was very good. It was nice to sit outside and watch the people go in and out of the bike path. The next few times we went there our experiences were not as good culminating with this past visit. I ordered a dish that was inedible, the pasta "shell" which should have had the consistency of a ravioli shell made a percussive sound when you tapped it with a fork. It was dried out and hard, no not al dente for sure. The crab/lobster casserole like insides were equally as bad. The seafood smelled and tasted very fishy which typically indicates a real lack of freshness. I eventually brought this to the attention of our waitress and she truly looked sorry for my experience. I will say that the owner tried to make amends by comping dessert for the table. I really want this place to improve it's food quality. I've been happy with the service, I like the atmosphere especially when you can sit outside. I really want to like this place but it's losing it's edge or passion for being a great restaurant.
Our party of (4) was enchanted by the professional level of gracious service and the tremendous care and preparation of the food. The whole Snapper I had was exquisite and all in my party were raving about the taste and look of each of their dishes. It was very clear that the manager, Kate, was clearly in charge of the room and trained her servers firmly and with skill. An excellent experience that I hope to relive again soon.
The food was spectacular. If you see some sort of fish as a special, TRY IT. The chef is a wizard with Mediterranean style fish. Iys a BYO with a great wine shop a few doors away in a quaint setting. Couldn't have been happier and have returned numerous times .
My favorite place for pizza and an Italian meal. I've eaten here many times and always enjoyed a great meal. With Phillips Wines a couple doors down its too easy to have great wine for a great meal at this BYOB.
First time. A very lovely place but very expensive for lunch. With all the high end places in the vicinity, this place should be more casual.
