I can't believe this place is rated so poorly! From my experience, (eating here for about a year now) I have to give this place 5 stars. Every time I went there I've had a pleasant experience. For starters, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Victor was our server the last time I went and he was very helpful! For my most recent trip I wanted to try something different, and boy the food was delicious! For appetizer we ordered the fried calamari, it's always on point and tasty. For my entrée I ordered the Latakia. It was a Calamari and Shrimp dish, it was savory all the way till my last bite. Can't forget the Chicken Kebab! It's grilled to perfection and always accompanied by a tasty crème tume. Overall, great atmosphere, and terrific staff! Looking forward to the next trip there.
I had a excellent experience here. Service provided was great and the for great also. I would definitely recommend. Prices are reasonable.
The food here is wonderful, very authentic middle eastern food. After eating at the restaurant, I placed a catering order for a gathering I was hosting at my house and took home a mixed grill tray with the same great quality. My guests loved it! Also, I've tried the hookah here twice and was pleased both times. The hookah is very smooth and much better than ones I've tried at other places. I'm not sure where all the negative comments are coming from. I thought everything was priced fairly. My only criticism is that the service in the dining room can be a bit slow, and on some nights it can get overcrowded because of the hookah customers. But other than that this is a great place.
Awesome food and very amazing service.
Last night was my second visit to Mediterranea and dinner was absolutely amazing both times. My family went to Syria in Dec 08 and we enjoyed the food very much. At Mediterranea, the food is not only just as good as in Syria, in some instances it is even better than in the best restaurants in Damascus! Both times,we had the falafel, the muhamarrah, and the fatoush - all amazing. Last night we also tried the mutabal, which is a creamy eggplant dip and the chicken kebab. The chicken kebab is very moist and served with a delicious sauce. We also had a chicken special (cultets with mozzarella, eggplant and marinara sauce) which was excellent. The ambiance and decor is the most authentic I have been to so far (and I have been to a few middle eastern restaurants in NYC). Additionally, the service was impeccable and friendly...we were treated like welcome guests. The prices are very moderate and the serving sizes are generous. Hopefully, I will save room for dessert next time I go because they looked incredible. I would say that I am fairly critical of restaurants, since I have a degree in restaurant management, but this restaurant is truly a gem. If you like middle eastern food or want to try it for the first time, this is the place to go.
