Herb's Pit Bar-B-Que

Great food; friendly service. We had dinner here on the recommendation of friends. and they were right. you need a reservation on a Saturday night; Sunday is a different story. if you want a drink, you better bring your own. they will serve it for you. Be sure to try the app sampler platter - it has the best on the starter menu. I had the BBQ shrimp, and they were good. Alex had the ribs, and the empty plate signaled his pleasure with that choice.

I'd rate 3.5 stars if the option was available. Very good food, though I'd argue their barbeque is only a little above average (once you try barbeque from a whole hog smoker, no restaurant can compare). Their seafood, something that's in limited supply in this region of NC, is very good, as is their prime rib. Try the trout and crab (if they happen to have the latter available). Besides the little home barbeque eateries that appear and disappear sporadically in the region, Herbs is probably your best choice. One reason to note that I didn't give it another star is the ridiculous prices for drinks of any sort. Any restaurant that charges customers for tap water and ice automatically loses a star at least in my book.

BBQ is best in the south - closest competitor would be my dad. Until I found Herb's, I didn't like BBQ outside of our own back yard. Trout is amazing! Salad bar is the best around these parts. Prime Rib is the best anywhere in the US of A Gotta try the home-made chips and onion rings! Only reason I don't offer it 5 starts is because of the small amount of choices for healthy and/or organic options.

This is my wife's and mine third visit to Herb's..... Currently and in the past, the food was plentiful, DELICIOUS and well prepared. Ribs are tender and falling off the bone, Chicken was tastey, meaty and well prepared. The staff was friendly and very courteous, no rush to order or leave. By far the BEST N.C. Bar-b-que in the area. The only bad part of going to Herb's is the local's that seem to know each other and consistently yell across your table to each of thier kin-folk (Hey Ya'll), after all it is western N.C. and considered "Country". Well worth the beautiful drive to get there and dine. Comparing to Rib Country.... I was taught..... "If you can't say anything nice, its better to say nothing at all". Drive WEST from Rib Country the additional 11 or so miles and give Herb's a try when in the area, you won't be disappointed.

Was very disappointed, had been told how awesome this place was, the ribs were horrible, if u want good bbq, go to brothers.
