Back in the summer of 2008 I spent a lot of time in Ekalaka on business. The Old Stand Bar & Grill (yes, they are the same place) served as our general meeting space, social hot spot and dispensary (providing general anesthetics, of course). Theyll serve you anywhere, both in the bar up front or the family-style restaurant in the back. Use the side entrance if you have kids and dont wish to haul them through the barroom. Up at the bar, they even did requests: as long as we promised to drink it, theyd stock whatever beer we wanted. And yes, we kept our promise. I dont think Ekalaka had seen so much Fat Tire beer before or since.

Rod Hedges and his father own the place. They take good care of customers and cater to the Ekalaka locals which include ranchers, farmers, random travelers, and the the local citizens. A cold beer, a nice steak or hamburger, or their tasty broasted chicken awaits your arrival. You won't be disappointed.

I travelled to Ekalaka as what the locals lovingly call a "Bone Hunter" and I have to say my most treasured memories from that trip related to the travels from the dig site into town to eat from beef tips from the Old Stand. This is a great little place that's beyond friendly and it comes highly recommended from me!
