Hollywood Casino & Hotel Tunica

This place is on the verge of being gem. Nice rooms, great beds, good casino and decent food options. The only downfall is some of the staff. The Sunday morning buffet and casino staff were fantastic! They were polite with southern charm. On the other hand the front desk staff and the few members of "management" we dealt with were worthless. But for the price and provided the cleanliness of the rooms I would definitely stay there again. If the front desk people and the "management" had the same attitude and southern charm as the lady that made our eggs Sunday morning I would have given them 4 stars. And let's face it....5 stars should be really hard to get. So overall not bad. Good value.
BED BUGS! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! MY CHILD HAD BITES ALL OVER HER UPPER BODY! I FILED A REPORT WITH THE SUPERVISOR AND NOW NO ONE WILL RETURN OR ANSWER MY CALLS! THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY STAY EITHER! I DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAYING IN THIS CIGARETTE SMOKE FILLED, HIGH DOLLAR, DISGUSTING, BED BUG INFESTATION HOTEL!
The room was nice, clean, properly made, quiet, good night's sleep. You need to use your card to access the elevator, good security. The front staff was at work that day, that's about all I can say about them. We booked a room months in advance, web site stated free internet, large screen TV. We were put in the tower that has no internet access. When asked why we were put in that room, no response. The TV (Dish) does not work, the only channels that we could access was two infomercial channels and headline news (HLN). Three phone calls and over an hour later the hotel sent up a maintenance man to fix the problem. Much to my surprise, he jiggled a few wires and proclaimed, "Yep, it don't work", and he left. Duh, I knew that! No follow-up from the front desk offering another room, no nothing. We only paid $30/night for the room; if we had to pay $150 I would really have been upset. We will not stay there again. Remember, you get what you pay for.
Rooms were very nice and clean. Housekeeping was good and friendly. The only negatives I have are, they put us on the 6th floor and swiping our room key to use the elevator was a problem at first.
Extremely long crap table! The longest in Mississippi, and is very difficult to get the dice "every single time to the back wall!" I felt that I was made to feel very uncomfortable last night by the "female" crap table box-lady. After a while, she would disappear until it was my turn to shoot the dice, then she would mysteriously return with this other woman (who I assumed was a Supervisor) when it was my turn to shoot. I took this personal, and as some form of harassment and intimidation. It seemed to me that this lady (boxlady) with a short brown hair cut seemed to have a personal issue with me. I was one of the better dice shooters at the table, but she seemed to make uncalled or ridiculous comments and body language expressions when I came up short a couple of times on this unconventionally long crap table. The only smile I got from her all night was when she asked for my player's card. After that, she treated me like an unwanted, long-lost step child and any manner of customer service or friendliness went out the door. I don't know. Was it jealously as to where I live? That I am a black lady who can handle the dice to her surprise? I just didn't get it! I drive over an hour to patronize Hollywood Casino from up on the North East side of Memphis, and am just getting tired of the poor attitudes from the Crap table employees at these Mississippi casinos. It's just not worth the drive anymore as it seems you loose out thrice: Once with your money, then again with the humiliating crap table experiences, then again with the exhausting drive there and back. It seems that certain employees are so caught up in their on personal vendettas, egos and strong tempered need to break their customers' will down, that they are too unsophisticated to understand they are shooting themselves in the foot by constantly being offensive to their customers who simply drive ALL THE WAY DOWN THERE to have SOME fun, spend lots of their hard earned money and tip them if they could really win something before they are ran off by mean hateful employees. I know that there is one of the table games Managers who doesn't condone bad behavior from Crap Table employees, but, unfortunately, she works the day shift, not the evening when most people typically come out to the crap table I believe, but seems to, unfortunately, be when the worse of the worse casino employees work. Maybe when they all follow in Harrah's shoes and close, this might be the best thing for all of us.
