Cheddar's Casual Cafe

This is always my family's first choice whenever we want to go out to eat. The wait times are kind of hit-and-miss, but we are never unsatisfied with the food. We've usually had awesome waiter/waitresses. There's only been a few times when we got pretty irritated with a couple of waiters, but we just gave benefit of doubt, maybe they were new employees, plus sometimes they are just busier than hell! They have VERY fair prices. We took my mother and father in law, plus our two children, my husband and myself (of course), we got 2 appetizers, about 3 or 4 long island ice teas, PLUS everyone's meal came to under $75 bucks before tipping. The interior of this place is very serene. My kids love the ceiling fans, gigantic fish tank, and all the plants. It's very wilderness-y!
Went to lunch with my friends and the experience was horrible and embarrasing as I had suggested Cheddar's for lunch. We shared a bottle of wine and when the waiter delivered our wine glasses all of them had lipstick around the rims. I took the bottle of wine back to the bar and explained the problem. The second time they delivered our wine glasses and new bottle of wine we again showed the waiter that there was lipstick on the wine glass rims. The waiter was beside himself and brought another set of wine glasses which you could feel grime on the outside of the glasses. We took our napkins and cleaned the wine glasses just to get on with our lunch. When we received our food it was lukewarm but doable. The manager came and said they were comping a portion of our tab. One friend had her meal comped, I got my salad comped ???Not sure what was up with that. My other friend got nothing comped. Cheddars is no longer on our list of lunch gatherings.
The lobby and parts of the restaurant smelled like sewage. I'm not sure why. It could have been grease tracked all over the carpet over time. I know that smells quite nasty. Otherwise Cheddar 's is Cheddar's. Some of their items are mediocre while others are bland. Service was decent.
Food is always cold, except at the bar. The Mexican girl at the bar is a terrible bartender.
We have gone to many Cheddars in the midwest and although our first experience at this location the week that it opened was not satisfactory (service, food, etc.). We gave it another chance a year or so later and have had exceptional service, short wait times for both tables AND for food, and the food and drinks have always been fantastic. The homestyle cooking is great and the prices can't be beat anywhere.
