We were staying at the Holiday down the street and it was a much needed relief to be surrounded by tall mahogany walls, a quiet fire, and wonderful seats in the beautiful Sheraton Hotel. I am a pianist so I appreciate good posture when eating and it was such a relief not to sit so high or sit so low. Service was very friendly and she even suggested places where to go on our Duluth getaway. The lobby area and the rest of the restaurant was welcoming and warm.
Food was very good. We began with the Turkey Soup where warm Sourdough buns were served. We both had the Walleye dinner. It was presented very beautifully and the Walleye was the best Walleye I have tasted in my life and I am a Minnesota-native. We ended with a locally grown Blueberry Apple Cobbler with ice cream. Accompanying our meal was a bottle of Italian Merlot-Cabernet, which complimented the Walleye almost too perfectly.
Yes I agree one could find better dining experiences in Duluth however for the price and for the quality of food, it was quite exceptional! Total of 4 cocktails, a bottle of wine, and 3 courses for each equaling about a little over $100. Not bad at all I would have to say!
Tasty lunches, good prices, try the roasted turkey sandwich! I cannot believe it is not busier.
