JJ Astor Restaurant Lounge View

We stayed in the Radisson, so this was a natural stop for us. We went here on a Sunday Morning, around 9am or so. We go Sheila as our server, who was very nice and knowledgeable. My Fiance got the Yogurt, Granola, and Fruit, with an egg on the side. I got the 3 egg omelette, with Salmon as my meat. We got coffee as a drink, which came quickly. The food came ~15-20 minutes after ordering, which seemed a bit long, but it didn't really bother me since the view was amazing, even in the dead of winter. My fiance said that all the food was good on her end, but I was unable to taste any of it, as she ate it all. My omelette was very good as well. Nothing bad to report at all. Salmon was very fresh, eggs were cooked well, cheese was perfect. Once we were done, we got the bill, which was reasonable for the food, paid it, and headed out for the day. Sheila was very friendly the whole time, and came to check on us a few times. Service - 5/5 Food Quality- 4/5 Serving Size - 5/5 Speediness - 4/5 Atmosphere - 4/5 Overall: 5/5
The view is spectacular. I went at night, and, wow! Just awesome. Something to experience at least once. The food was outstanding, but the portions were a bit small, especially considering that this is among the pricier dining options in Duluth. I had the Pecan Crusted Walleye and have had eaten similar meals at similarly-priced restaurants with literally almost twice the food on my plate. A little let down by the portion sizes.... The ambiance of the restaurant, particularly at night, is very elegant, understated, and fairly classy. Cushy chairs, elegant wall and shelf decor, dashes of dark wood -- I dig it. There is a slight old-school maritime theme going on, which I really enjoyed. The sweeping (and constantly changing!) views are really something to behold at night. Simply breathtaking. This place should be on everyone's "Duluth Bucket List." It's not perfect, but it's so unique. Give it a shot.
After writing a poor review two years ago when this first opened, I'm happy to say the quality has improved dramatically! Food is tasty, view is spectacular. One of my favorite downtown places now.
My lady took me here for valentines. Excellent steak. A bit too pricey but worth it if you haven't been to a rotating restaurant. Decent views of the city and lake superior. Expect to leave a hundred bucks on the table
We had dinner reservations for 7:15pm, we didn't get seated until 8:05pm. The manager assured us they had not forgotten us. We finally decided to order an appetizer and our dinner in the lounge. Our app came, we ate it, still no table. Finally our table opened up. We were seated around the same time as another couple. They were greater by a nice waitress, offered bread and butter and the drink menu. We were given a glass of free proseco and then our dinner came. My biggest complaint is why did I have to wait 60 minutes for a table, when I had a reservation? It definately left a blemish on our first anniversary. Hard to recommend.
