Journeyman Distillery
Reviews
Journeyman is a great place. The food and drinks are delicious. The atmosphere is very relaxed. It is not a typical bar. There is no table service, which I like. You place all orders at the bar. Usually, drinks are made on the spot, but you receive a buzzer for notification for when your food is ready. The menu is diverse and accommodating to any appetite, children included. I've visited Journeyman a few times, and I WILL be back.
Being from Kentucky and having worked for years on Maker's Mark, I think I know bourbon. You can taste a level of quality in their's and it's unbelievable! You have to try the limited batch of the 100 proof!
Great atmosphere, excellent drink selections! My favorite was the manhatten.
Great distillery with very nice ambiance and decor. The drinks are creative and well balanced. I recommend the Corsets, Whips & Whiskey. They infuse the W.R. White Whiskey with a raspberry/simple syrup mixture, making it the perfect amount of bitter and sweet. I liked almost every whiskey, my favorite was the Featherbone. I'm not a huge fan of gin, but the Bilberry Black Hearts Gin has a nice fruity taste and is very palatable for a non-gin drinker. The Bilberry is a good addition to the normal juniper flavor found in most gins - so give it a try even if you don't usually drink it.
I like this place but I've heard some folks (mainly my dad and father in law) disparage the whiskey. I'm sure it takes a decade or two for a distillery to get in the groove. The whiskey was fine to me and I really like the space. Lots of exposed brick, rusted metal and old wooden rafters. The bar gets really crowded though. The drinks are good but expensive. They make great gin.
