Grill One Eleven

Pretentious, unsatisfying, and unmemorable. The service here is phenomenal, and the environment is also top notch, but personally I wish they would have taken the effort they put into that and spent it on the food. My wife and I squandered nearly $50 on a disappointing lunch. The food was extremely bland and felt like it was frozen. Then, I noticed a staff member using a Gordon Foods clipboard.... BUSTED. The plating and presentation were top notch, but in the end they forgot it needs to be about the food.
This restaurant has a great menu with slight twists on some classic dishes. Their specials are always on point and they offer a wide variety of local draft beer.
I am a fitness addict but I love food, so I ate lunch, then didn't eat the rest of the day so I could save my calories for something delicious at grill 111 with my lady friend. Planned a big pig out on some steak. First, well, I have never been there on a friday night, but it was LOUD..people just yelling around the entire place. Definitely NOT a good place for two non-drinkers to go and talk at a normal volume. Second, I ordered the 12oz rib-eye ($20.95) medium-rare, and i know it's a rich cut generally but this was really fatty, and whatever oil they used to sear/grill it was way too hot and it had black char taste, on top of being over-cooked to medium-well. I was so hungry I gobbled it up anywys. Portion of potatoes and green beans were TINY...maybe 2 oz of green beans, and 3 oz of potatoes. Way to ruin a "great" cut of meat and make it geasy/charred/overcooked at the same time. Our server was really good, I think his name was Alex, so I tipped good anyways, and didn't complain. Overall the experience was $61.00 for two meals, a desert, and no drinks. I am severely disappointed - I could have easily went to Red's and gotten phenomenal food for the same price or much less. Do NOT go here for a nice dinner...Lunch/Bar food and drinks at best....if there's no other choice....
Acoustic guitar player, good but turned up a bit loud. Will try the upstairs next time.
It has great food cooked by real chefs. The food is certainly upscale. The atmosphere is party like when they are busy. Very friendly staff. Sometimes that have live entertainment but there is little room for that. They just kind of squeeze in.
